These umpires need to be sacked. Actually a disgrace now. So many calls going against the Aussies lol.

Umpires to blame and the ICC for coming up with this law that whatever decision is made there has to be a conclusive evidence to overturn that decision.

There has to be nothing conclusive you mugs if it's out, it's out, if it's not, it's not!!!

Shocking decision there was no bat there Feel sorry for the Aussies here that was a bad bad decision

Think Trott's real lack of an appeal at slip was all you needed to know. He had with Prior the best view on the field and didn't look convinced at all.

Prior might've appealed but it didn't look like England really expected the wicket.

Deary me.

The guy would have been out if DRS wasn't there.

However by the sounds of it should have been over turned by third umpire. Don't blame the tools!

It's the 3rd umpires fault as greatteams says. On-field umpires have been getting it wrong since the game began.

Evidently they're struggling to use the tools at their disposal.

Very very very poor decision by the TV Umpire

Drs is pathetic

Shane Warne's face will fall off at this rate.

BOSS this has nothing to do with DRS. It's TV umpire who appears to be blind.

Exactly Davidoff..

DRS improves the % of correct decisions, anyone how says otherwise is clueless

posted on 1/8/13

englandwhoelse, it is definitely the DRS and the current procedure they use for DRS.

There was a blog on cricinfo about it, the 3rd Umpire cannot overrule the decision he simply answers the questions the on field umpire asks him.

posted on 1/8/13

Its not the DRS, its the idiocy of the Umpire

No noise or Hotspot and a clear gap between bat and ball

posted on 1/8/13

But it's not actually getting rid of the howler, that was the howler and it still stood.

posted on 1/8/13

It was only a howler from the third umpire you can't fault the on field real time decision really

posted on 1/8/13

You didnt even need technology to see that was not out. Clear gap between bat and ball.

How hard is it to be a 3rd umpire?

he either hit it or he didn't. Clearly he didn't so hes not out.

posted on 1/8/13

As Warney and Beefy are saying though, the Technology is giving a definitive answer and then they are making an answer to the opposite of that without clear evidence, which is bemusing at best

posted on 1/8/13

It's 100% DRS in it's current form.

Does anyone believe that the on field umpires are making the exact same calls that they would if DRS was not in place?

posted on 1/8/13

Duncan. so would you have accepted the decision. If we weren't using the system? because it was given out.

posted on 1/8/13

what on earth was that. That was a bigger howler than what we see umpires do naturally without DRS.

BCCI's plea is just getting stronger and stronger as the day goes by.

posted on 1/8/13

We don't know the same decision would have been made, that is a spurious and hypothetical question. Fact is DRS as currently used got it wrong.

posted on 1/8/13

DRS was invented and is used not to give the opposition wickets, but to erase the howlers. If the Umpires, or cricket is unable to do that then the ICC are failing somewhere. Train these people FFS!! When the ball is hitting the wicket for LBW it should be OUT, regardless of the Umpires decision.

And, there should NOT be conclusive evidence to overturn a decision. A decision should be overturned, if a wrong one is made. But the ICC display that message in a different way "Conclusive evidence needed". Then we have these thick, uneducated umpires!
