Job done, ground them into the dirt

I grew up watching a dominant Australia team win literally everything, the team of the early noughties, best players and mentally the toughest. But, now it is a pretty sad sight.

Australia went into a period, whereby England couldn't win an Ashes series- Since 2009 England's run has begun. They'll do the same. How many years it'll last I don't know. But I'd defo back them to do so.

Good Morning all

Well great 2 days for me Saturday was at Lords, which turned out to be a great day watching Root play a fantastic innings, and England take control of the match. I can't see the Aussies coming back from 2-0 down and getting beat in the manner they did will help Englands confidence grow, so will be be a 5-0 win ?

For me the front order of batsman have struggled and have cost them the win, as the tail ebders again proved they can bat, Clarke has a massive task to lift them for Old Traford, and to be honest does he have the player s to do it ?

Anyway a weeks break then back to put the Aussies out of thier missery

Good morning. If i was picking the aussie 11 from Manchester this is what i personally do.id make 2 changes to the team Drop Watson for Warner as the opener and put Shane Watson at 6.Replacing Steve smith in the side.. In the bowing i would replace Pattison with Lyon..
Use Watson more as a 3rd seamer behind Siddle and Harris. 2 spin threat may keep a bit of control.

Rodgers
Warner
Khawaga
Hughes
Clarke
Watson
Haddin
Agar
Siddle
Harris
Lyon

The Australian battings still looks weak, but theres not much to chose from, the cupboard is bare

They probably will drop Agar, if you don't have a class spinner, You may aswell pick 2 and hope they can get some pressure from either end. Other wise England will target Lyon and be in the same position.
Swann takes wickets, that's what makes him such a good bowler.. In the past we had Giles who just tied up an end and helped the seamers to rotate from other end.

Pattinson is out of the rest of the series with a back injury.

Pattinson is out of the rest of the series with a back injury.

That was likely to happen, apart from defending with the bat he's been shite

early days yet but i can't say sammy agar strikes me as much of a bowler. very difficult for a teenage spin bowler to have the guile or control to really perform consistently. take away his 98 wunder innings and people would be asking why he is in the side at all.

Patto has been pretty damn disappointing I must say- I expected a lot more, but then again the lad is inexperienced. I'd back him to come back strong in Australia- But in this series he just bowled absolute filth, didn't know what lines or lengths to bowl.

As for Agar he needs to go and Lyon clearly needs to come in from Australia's perspective. But I'd also give James Faulkner a go. The guy has already proved this summer that he can bat and bowl.

the aussies have a decent stock of young fast bowlers. now its a matter of nuturing them and making sure they are not overworked.

In all fairness, Australia almost bowled for 4 consecutive days and it was bound to happen that one or 2 will be injured. There is more to come perhaps siddle or harris is next on the list.

Agree he will come good no doubt. A back injury isn't so good, but Australia's batsman may be failing, but their bowlers have great potential. Thankfully from their perspective.

His batting will be missed.

Mitchell Johnson called up as Pattinson's replacement- Oh god please let him play! It would be brilliant. England's favourite cricketer is back!

James Faulkner will also play next Test- Should've been brought back in the last game. He has proven already this summer that he can bat and bowl. But still Lyon has to come back too.

Please let this happen! I'll get a ticket just to abuse him for another 5 days again

He bowls to the left, he bowls to the riiigghttt that Mitchel Johnson, his bowling is sheeeiitetee

How many players is that now in the aussie squad? must be getting on for 30

posted on 23/7/13

If he is called up he won't end up playing, am sure of it, unless he is in England already- But still he'll be carrying the drinks!

posted on 23/7/13

Nope. Based on what I read, either it is going to be Pat Cummins or none. Some are even calling for Marsh. Not a bad idea if you ask me.

posted on 23/7/13

My bad Voice. Well Cummins is in Africa and playing so that wouldn't be a bad idea. But it baffles me that players like Henriques who performed in India are not in the squad. Someone like George Bailey who would fit perfectly with Clarke in the middle order. Adam Voges could have been another player they could have selected. Yet Australia picked a load of left hand openers.

James Taylor to play for Sussex against Australia. His chance to impress as the selectors say. What a load of rubbish.

If KP is not fit, you back Taylor and select him- He's scored runs in all forms this season, the in-form batsman- Is that not enough?

David Warner hits 193 off 226 balls for Australia A! Against some pretty decent RSA bowlers.

posted on 24/7/13

I rather prefer Warner be selected for Australia and get trashed. He deserves some treatment for what he's done.

posted on 24/7/13

look whether warner scores 100s or 50s, he should be selected. He can surely score more than rodgers and hughes combined. For me warner shud be an automatic choice.

The thing that baffles me the most is players like watson, clarke have taken a rest.

Bet the wicket he batted on was flatter than a pancake and came on nicely to the bat..Be different in a test match with the new ball and Anderson nipping the ball either way.
