Anybody get on the throwaway 1/2 the draw when England were 170 odd for 3?
woakes gone early for 20 odd.....
Can australia call england to bat again to chase whatever lead they get without batting again?
For eg. Australia get a lead of 150, they think its enough, so can they "not bat" again and field again?
I don't see any reason why not - they could just declare their innings before taking the field.
However this is getting interesting.
Send KP out there opening to chase these runs
Clarke might have to go to defensive here.
Funny how the alleged worst Test match ever has become rather interesting.
Kharse - a team is only allowed to do that if the other team scores 200 less than the other team's total i.e. if England had scored less than 292 (thereby Australia having a lead of 200+), then only can they ask England to bat again without having to take the field. Then, whatever England manage, Australia need to chase to win the game. It's called "follow-on".
Credit to Aus for playing with spirit. They could have easily settled for a draw. Yet they went for a win. They might lose though. It's funny that they are working hard for English spectators in otherwise a dull show.
Wrong Diplo, A a team can declare their innings at any point which could be at 0-0
Australia trying to lat positively but looks like England will steal the show & win as expected 4-0.
Disappointing - that is not a true reflection of what has happened in this series.
Self a few extra runs with that shot. Lovely stuff
Cricket laws once again proving the lack of common sense.
Don't blame the Umpires, don't blame the players - blame the laws and those that make them.
the over rate from Australia as been ridcolous... Anyway 3 nil aussies.. 3 nil
So glad I didn't bother going to the Oval today now
Phil Howard, TMS inbox: Put 10 on England at 175/1 this morning - can't watch. If we do it, I'm booking for the next Test down under tonight!
Robbed
That's just added to return series in Australia... I would have said the Aussies had a chance down under. no chance now, England will bat them into submission down there..
What an unfortunate end to an entertaining series though
Get in......3 zip......let's do the same over there now.....
England win the series 3-0
England better hope the enforcer is fit for the 1st test match at the Gabba in November.
They were useless without him.
Ryan Harris has been magnificent
Virtually on 1 leg yet takes 24 wickets in 4 test matches - Magnificent achievement!
I hope England take Tremlett & Panesar along with Bairstow & Taylor
For Australia - they need Ryan Harris fit & try to get James Pattinson fit but it will be too early for him.
Aus need a consistent selection with both bat & ball.
England has very few weak links like Root and Wokes/Bairstow. Prior has been patchy. But I guess for now he will retain his place. On the bowling front, they need to settle the third seamer. Tremlett would be the obvious choice given his wonderful record there.
For Australia, batting needs to come from the same team. Warner/Watson has to be consistent. Rogers might pave way for Cowan.
Starc is more of a promise than any thing else. He was the weak link when ever he got selected. He needs to be replaced either with Pattinson or Johnson. Starc is not good enough for test matches. He almost costed them final test.
