I thought he would be perfect for Arsenal, let the rest do the tippy tappy stuff and he can get on the end of crosses, cut-backs and through balls. I never really rated him as an all round footballer but his goalscoring record for Bayern is incredible, good signing if the price is between 10-15 million.

Not saying Defoe =Gomez. If we buy a new striker he will have to be more of an all rounder than Gomez. If we are to replace Defoe (ie not first choice) then maybe Gomez would do a job.

Again ask yourself why this player is valued at £10m -£15m aged 27. Why such a 'great goalscorer' would come to Spurs....because he is limited and we need more than that

Because Bayern don't need him.

I'm sure Bayern would get market value for him...they are a well run outfit.

No other striker polarises opinion quite like Gomez!

"He's a lethal finisher, goal record stands upto most...."

"Tap-in merchant, does sod all else....."

His worth is relevant to the players he's got around him and the system they play. At bayern he has chances laid on a plate for him so he's generally not needed to do anything else (although heynckes obviously wanted someone like mandzukic to be more involved). Other teams don't have the flair bayern have so he'd be a spare part until the ball reaches the 6 yard box.

You can be a tap-in merchant like inzaghi was because he was always playing with a partner such as del piero/shevchenko so there was always someone doing some work. Nowadays with the lone striker often being used you generally need more than tap-ins unless he's got 5/6 chances per game
