@Bales apparently we were happy to meet the asking price. funds aren't the issue.

According to the Echo the fee was no problem for us.
The issue was dealing with Raiola who basically wouldn't give us access to the player so we couldn't put our case to him.
Henrikh can't be interested in us anyway, not much anyone can do about that.
Far easier to blame everyone though isn't it?
Sums up the lack of financial clout
You really are a grade a whopper sometimes ARE.
Phil Mcnulty (Chief football writer, BBC Sport website)
Liverpool had no problem meeting fee, believed to be £12.5m, but believe they never actually got the chance to put their case to the player.

I know who I'd rather believe.
Honest Twitter is only to believed when it shows something negative about FSG - otherwise it's all nonsense. For crying out loud get with the program!
All we can do is wait and see what happens, very disappointing summer though if we don't bring in a player that can step right into the first 11.
Buying youth is all well and good, but we still need quality game experience to help us along, without it we'll just float along.
If nothing happens like last year, any good will towards FSG will be lost irrepairably.
I hope they don't let history repeat itself.
"We have the resources to compete with anyone in football".
What seems more plausible is that Artur is now backtracking after being made to look a little foolish and is now blaming the club. His words went global and now he's been shown to be completely wrong.
Just admit you were wrong, that you didn't have any ITK information. We'd have more respect for you.
Some bloke picked the Champions League runners up and recent champions of their league over some mid table English side who's best player wants out.
Shocking. Just shocking.
Who the hell is artur petrosyan? Why are people believing him? What kind of fool will take the word of someone they'd never hear of before and then use it as a means to trash the club and its owners?
Belmonty.
Are you on your period? No one's 'trashing' the owners - merely exercising freedom of speech to highlight the FACT of FSG's lack of serious finances.

but shortlight, they offered the right amount of money
finances don't even come into the debate here
it's either he chose a better team than us or Ayre wasn't given access to the player to make our case. maybe both.
Belmonty.

====================================
Freedom of speech yet you're attacking him and asking a man if he's on period..
The irony
Suso.
Constructive as ever.
You, my friend, are the very definition of cannon fodder. You're expendable. A mug.
And yet they are still a feeder club who can't keep hold of their best players against their most hate rivals. Imagine us losing our best player to Man Utd. That wouldn't happen if we were in League 2, never mind if we were 1 place behind them. We are not as good as Dortmund but we still have the reputation.
=====================================
Dortmund are a well run club and wouldn't mind losing players as long as they receive enough money to reinvest on another player.
It's not like here in England where clubs reject less more money to sell to foreign teams due to rivalry.
Freedom of speech? What are you on about? Your continual dislike of fsg, Liverpool and its fans does get tiresome. Your idiocy continues to amuse however
belmonty.
You think I'm amusing.

Yes. You're our village idiot.
It hasn't been any less ridiculous for Dortmund Rap.
They have been linked with him for ages too.
The difference is they appear to have won the drawn out race.
When you have a player owned by about 3 different people, then things take time.
Its not the club's fault that the media managed to get hold of info regarding our interest. It could easily have been linked by Shaktar or the agents.
What can the club do about that?
The trouble is these idiots who see a name being linked and then think the deal is going to wrapped up in a matter of days.
Don't blame the club for idiots having unrealistic expectations.
