It is true, graham hunter confirmed it is what is holding up the move
------------------------------
Yet no one at Man Utd, Barca or Thiago's reps have mentioned anything. Strange that.
Still, i guess someone close to the world renowned guillem balague must have all his facts sewn up?
Don't forget we also paid 7.4 million on Bebe without even seeing him kick a ball.
Talk about spunking money up the wall.
Ps that was a joke I don't even know if you did pay 7.4 million. But even £7.40 would be funny.
People need to chill out and wait until the window closes.
Who saw RVP joining United in July last year?
Ji Park, Graham Hunter as far as I know is quite knowledgeable about Spanish football. So I'll trust him over what I've heard from anyone else.
So when I say confirmed it was what he said.

I'm in agreement with Stretty here. The VAT stuff sounds like a load if rubbish.
I still expect him to stay at Barca, if I'm honest. He may go to Bayern but the same people saying it's a done deal were the same people who were saying it was a done deal with United, ie., unreliable media sources.
They've just ran with the Pep quotes.
No point arguing over this anyway, nothing we can do about it.
As someone said, there is long way to go still.

They haven't got anything right. Thiago hasn't signed for either of United or Bayern, so I'm not taking people with conflicting statements as reliable, it's guesswork on their part.
Pep was asked and he's said he wants to sign him. That doesn't mean Thiago has signed does it?
He may sign for them, but I still have my reservations over him leaving, as nothing concrete has been confirmed. We'll see, but he could still stay at Barca.
Sorry but the VAT excuse is bull. Graham Hunter obviously doesn't know what he's talking about (certainly in accountancy terms) as united would reclaim the input vat on the acquisition. It is ofset against your output VAT on your VAT return and would lower the amount that united would pay over to HMRC. They would therefore effectively be reclaiming it a few months down the line. There is no way the VAT has anything to do with this. If Graham Hunter truly said that the VAT is the issue here then I would treat anything else he's had to say on the matter as absolute trash.
Yeah the VAT thing cannot be true, unless if course we were expecting to pay the £18m inclusive on the VAT.
Even then, we are junky talking £3m, which considering the cut price deal isn't going to break the bank.
When has Graham Hunter ever said anything about this VAT issue? I'm looking on his TL and can't see anything
RVP he does you obviously not looking back, he talks about it yesterday.
Graham Hunter
Release Clause in Spain MUST be paid by player. Obv he doesn't have that money. IF 'buying' club gives him it, there's tax on that
That's what he says, interesting.
He has said more in past weeks about it as well.

We wouldn't reclaim it because we don't pay anything to hmcr.
Worst Thiago article of the lot. Congratulations.
Graham Hunter is the English Balague.

of course we pay VAT to HMRC, a business of United's size cannot get away with not doing so. we may not pay corporation tax but VAT is an entirely separate issue. even if our input VAT exceeds our output VAT we would reclaim that back. trust me, I know about this stuff.

Catalan radio RAC1: Rummenigge has told Barca they will pay Thiago Alcantara's release clause.
Whilst i feel Balague gets a harsh deal here - he is still a very knowledgeable football hack- the amount of guff he spouts about transfers could fill the HMS Belfast.
Hunter, by association, seems to be cut from similar cloth. I recall Hunter saying (with a straight face no doubt) that Tello was essentially a young Cristiano Ronaldo - Tello is utter crap.
TRC, they're good Spanish pundits, but I was talking about their transfer stuff.
He's so pro Barca, Tello is nothing like Ronaldo.
