Just another case of the icc bowing down to pressure! Got about as much back bone as a snake
I thik he shoudl server his FULL ban before being allowed to play again
Sets a precedence that will open the floodgates - a couple of years off for a few hundred grand reward will be far more tempting than the risk of a lifetime ban.
ECB set the example when they allowed Westfield to play club cricket after 3 years when it was 5.
Terrible move by the ICC. As stated already the ECB has not helped matters and this only makes things worse. Sends out a message to people that if you cheat we will get you back, do it young enough and your career will carry on regardless. Personally i'd never pay to watch a match that Amir or Westfield are involved in. Seems that certain boards and governing bodies care little that the fans got cheated by these guys and they dragged the game through the mud.
That muppet should be in prison.
Kash - agree, Westfield too,
Both should server their bans - no if's, no butts (excuse the pun)
Fair play to the ICC on a common sense approach – This is in line with the detail judgements and comments made by the judge following the case. The judge said the ICC ban of 5 years was only given because that was the minimum he could have got with ICC rules and recommended that these are changed and ICC reconsider. Amir, despite being the youngest and least experienced was the only one out of the three that admitted guilt and put his hand up and gave evidence against the other 2.
A young lad of 19 making an error shouldn’t cost him opportunities in the future. He’s the only one from the 3 that’s kept quiet since 2010 and kept away from the media and forced on moving on. I’d welcome him back with open arms without a shadow of a doubt.
Bearded – there have been many other players (well experienced and knowledgeable) that have cheated fans from the game too, but have made comebacks and no-one has batted an eye-lid – not least from the saffers and indian teams of the past!
I do agree there have been others Afridi, and i wouldn't pay to watch them either. I don't see how his age makes any difference
My problem is the message this sends out. The ICC are desperate to rid the game of this but carry on leaving the door open for people to do it ad get away with it. Great pity that any of these guys play again. They cheated the very people who give them a career, the fans, now they will expect to be worshiped by the same fans they cheated.
In that sense the BCCI have been very strict. Dont think sreesanth will ever play international cricket. Thats another thing whether he is innocent or not.
BTW when was Amir's ban originally meant to finish. I swear he had a 7year ban?
At the moment we don't know what the BCCI do as an investigation is on going.
Viru, Asif is on a 7 year ban i think not Amir.
ok so when is amir's ban meant to finish?
I've said it before and I'll say it again. If I was Pakistan captain I wouldn't want him anywhere near the team.
Amir,
Amir has not had his ban lifted. U should be banned for this inaccurate and poor article mate. Disgusting!! What a wum
He has been allowed to play domestic cricket again, which means his ban has been lifted to a certain extent.
