Actually mate I think this one is all Benteke. His agent advised him to stay at Villa for another year, however if he was dead set on leaving it would take a transfer request to make it happen.
I think this may be the one occasion where the agent isn't just after a players money.
His agent has come out and said that Benteke has more a chance of playing for a 7th tier team in Belgium rather than signing for Chelsea.
I just don't understand why he would move so soon. Fair enough Villa struggled more than they should've last season but by the end of the season the team we really gelling and look ready to push on next season. End if the dy though 25m is a nice amount to get and Lambert can really strengthen the team with it but his goals could be hard to replace.
benteke would go to chelsea
He wants to move because his ego is so big he doesn't realise how far he has to go to become a top player. He also seems to think that he can specify which team will buy him; saying he doesn't want to go to Chelsea is like a little spoiled kid.
Villa don't need him. When he came into the team last year we were struggling for goals, mainly because our play in the final third was poor. Lambert solved that problem. Whoever replaces Benteke will get chances.
The only problem Benteke to Chelsea poses is that Lukaku is already there and really should get his chance to shine next season. That being said I'd happily have Lukaku at Villa but not as a loan. I certainly don't want Ba because of his injury problems and his wages would be too high. I'm sure Lambert has identified other strikers because we'll need Benteke's replacement. Maybe getting Remy id would be a good call.
I don't think Chelsea want him, I think Spurs will get him but for more than £20million. If he comes, has a great season and we get offered more than we paid for him then I would be happy if he did the same to us, we would just go and get someone else.
Loyalty cuts 2 ways, Villa have not shown much loyalty to Darren Bent have they.
Villa have become a selling club under Randy Lerner - Barry, Downing, Young, Milner, I don't think Benteke will be different.
As I said the message coming from his agent is: Benteke does not want to go to Chelsea, nor do they want him!
Jeez Bumble will you please shut up about your dislike for Spurs! You sound like a petulant 13 year old!
this whole episode has really wound up bumble
chin up bumble... aston villa might be a club people take seriously again one day
spurs fans are such hypocrites, all angry when bale is tapped up by real but silent when they do it themselves. anyway its 30 million lads, put up or shut up simple as that.

so you have any proof that spurs have tapped up benteke?
if so please provide it.... i personally doubt that spurs will sign benteke.
holte end manic is another one wound up by the whole situation.
dont worry diddums, at least you have weimann
No smoke without fire; Spurs are probably highly interested in Benteke. But they may well have not tapped him up; the whole thing seems to be driven by Benteke himself.
Difficult call for Spurs. If Benteke lives up to his promise, then he's worth what Villa are asking; he could be the factor that cements a top 4 position. But with only one good PL season behind him it's a lot to risk.
If the price is £30 million then he will be at Villa next season, there are better players out there for that much. My guess is he will go for around 22, 23 million.
Not sure Spurs can be blamed for this situation at all, there were whispers about him leaving as far back as February, and lets be honest the only reason he would stay at Villa at this point is through loyalty - which there is none of in today's game. I do question what Randy Lerners long term ambitions are for Villa.
Strike- it isn't just loyalty. He's still very much developing as a player. At Villa he will get game time week in week out, a team set up to bring the best out of him, a good coaching set up and everybody's support. In a year's time he will be a much better player, and be able to demonstrate that, if he is good enough. More top clubs will be seriously interested, and he will have much wider choice. At that point Villa will let him go, if he wants to go. Everybody wins.
At the moment he's a gamble, any top club must wonder if he's worth it, and the way he's handled this must raise serious doubts about his temperament. If, say, Spurs do pick him up, will they let him go in a year's time because he thinks he's good enough for a better club? I doubt it.
He doesn't understand about the longer term.
I am not sure he is that much of a gamble, he looked far from polished last year but bagged loads of goals. He is young and so far injury free, there is nothing to suggest he will break down. He is hungry to improve and despite lacking loyalty the rest of his mentality looks spot on. If we bought for £25m and he did flop, I'd wager we could still sell him for around the £15m mark, his wage demands are reasonable to in context, £70k a week is affordable. If AVB thinks he can play in his system then I don't see the gamble.
Has bumble dried his eyes yet?
You haven't got Benteke by the balls though. Villa are in no position to be messing about with Benteke like we did with Modric because your team are just not good enough and run the risk of being involved in another relegation battle if you don't get this sorted. You talk of us being "hypocrites" because of the Bale situation? That's completely different you plank Bale for one has made no noise about leaving Spurs and is clearly happy to stay unlike Benteke. The higher powers at our club have made a stance and promise to AVB that Bale will not be sold at any price whilst Aston Villa have already granted bentekes wish by selling him for the right price. Real Madrid have continued to tap up Bale through the media when we have already made it clear he's going nowhere, this is the difference between Benteke and Bale. Randy Lerner has already proven that when a player wants out if Villa, they end up going..... Benteke won't go for 25 million.
If Spurs fans read the posts. Villa fans want shot of him.
But the price is 25m. A public statement has been called to that extent.
So pay it or go away. Stop wasting our time, we can afford to leave him in our reserves for 3 years and will do. We have done it in the past.
"Randy Lerner has already proven that when a player wants out if Villa, they end up going...."
Never to the side that tapped them up in the first place.

go away? we havent even made an offer yet you plank
How naive are you? Talks have already started.
The official offer hasn't come in yet, but there is so much noise coming out of White hart lane we know exactly what it is.
20m + one of four. These leaks are sent out in advance to get the main stream media to say.
"Isn't that a reasonable offer."
Liverpool did exactly the same thing with Barry and our American owner was less than impressed.
You spurs lot really are a stupid bunch aren't you. A player doesn't hand in a transfer request unless he knows an offer is coming from someone, so clearly spurs have talked to his agent/him before given permission by villa.
And yes villa do hold all the cards, if you don't pay the money then he stays, if he strops then his on the bench in a world cup year for him.
