It seems most prefer the 3-5-2 formation, so do I actually, works really well IMO.

the problem is LRF all the top wingers are so damn expensive I could afford one not two so my side would look wonky

4-2-3-1/4-3-3 (attacking or holding variant) are the two most flexible formations, right now.

3-5-2 is the best formation for me. You have your Wing backs to provide your width, you'll overrun a 2 man midfield with a 3 man midfield or you could have a midfielder maybe chase down FB's whilst the WB's take the Wingers so you've got it level. Your 2 strikers on the 2 CB's and then you've 3 CB's on 2 strikers if you play 4-4-2.

yer it's a good formation but I like to mix it up depends on the opponents tactics...if they play one up top sometimes 3 CBs aren't needed
