It's a smokescreen for Ronaldo
Could be a smokescreen.
Could be because they want to calm fans down by bidding for a player they have no chance of signing.
Sadly HNIC I believe that to be the case
even I think it's being used to keep our real targets out of media sights...it sounds too far-fetched...but you never know...

I hope not but I have prepared myself in case this happens.
Does anyone really believe that Moyes would set himself up like this ?? Surely Utd know something or wouldn't comment.
Why would they make Moyes look like an idiot ?

We can always say we tried
i have the same thoughts vcd
utd are not usually vocal about transfers, is this a consequence of new backroom or a reaction to losing thiago (assuming we were interested)
Everyone is making this notion, however, I feel this isn't something of a revelation, more of a contrast.
We United fans are used to our transfer ongoings being kept relatively secret, bar a few unavoidable instances, and because of the 26 years it's been like that, we see that as our culture.
However, that may have just been the way SAF and Gill went about their stuff.
Moyes and Woodward may simply have a different approach. Not to say one is better than the other, but policies and transparency differ just as other characteristics do.
And so; I don't think it equates to the deal being more or less likely to happen/a smoke screen etc. etc.
I believe it is just the initial depiction of their personalities that have taken to us somewhat alien due to our memories of the past.

This
I don't believe Moyes would do that. Makes him look an idiot.
Utd know they need to make big name signing.
Doesnt make sense to let the world know who you're in for.
Im more and more afraid this is to keep the fans quiet.
Man Utd now have a new approach on transfers. Nevertheless, I don't believe we have a bats chance of getting Fabregas.
Maybe the season tickets aren't going as quick as expected.

Exactly. We're adopting the Arsenal approach.
Could be because they want to calm fans down by bidding for a player they have no chance of signing.
---------------------------------
The last thing this is going to do is calm fans down. None of us would have thought of Fabregas as a likely target. It would be a spectacularly short-term gain for a short/medium-term loss.
And why do they need to keep us quiet? What are the consequences of us wondering who we might sign rather than the consequences of hoping we'll sign Fabregas and then having our hopes dashed?
What do u guys think of torres of athletico madrid? I have not watched him in laliga before but in the youth championships he demonstrated similar skill set to xavi/thiago/scholes although not on the same level as this players given his age but his maturity/composure impressed me.
how much is he worth and what are the chances of him moving clubs..
We're adopting the Arsenal approach.
------------
Surely not starting a waiting list.
I hate how us Utd fans seem to think the club is smaller than it is, why do we not have a chance to sign Fabregas ?
Utd are one of the biggest few clubs in the world

Why is this being repeated?
That would never happen.
United are bidding because they genuinely believe there is a chance they can get him. No other reason.
A business like United would not make up false bids, do you realise how ridiculous that would be?
I just hope we dont end up going over the top and end up tapping up players openly like Real and Barca do. I'v always hated that.
Also, you say replacing Scholes is attractive to any footballer in the world, well you're right, but surely replacing Xavi is even more attractive especially for a catalan like Fabregas

..............
Yes we have.
We have had bids rejected plenty of times before, and this has been reported.
I really don't know wjhere people have got this notion from that every transfer SAF made was done in secret.
It is utter bollox.
Yes most of them have.
Veron, Berbatov and RVP were not secrets.
