Bonucci 7m + Criscito and Almiron

Yeah, but when Parma bought half of his rights you still had to pay them to buy it back.

In any case, bar maybe Dortmund and Atletico Madrid, Juventus's is the best squad in Europe assembled for relative peanuts

Roma have spent more than €50m this season alone, never mind last seasons massive outlay

More than €120m in 2 seasons, imagine if Juventus had the ability to spend that much money they'd be 20 points clear by now

Yeah, but the likes of Marquinhos, Lamela, Benatia have all been sold. Plus, Juve' were very shrewd- Roma's spending levels have been adequate for what is necessary in terms of catching up with Juventus. It's easy to say Juventus spent shrewdly so Roma should be able to challenge by spending the same amount, it's never going to happen and rarely happens in most leagues.

how dare they be shrewd

Roma haven't spent the same amount, they've spent more than twice as much though

They blew Juventus out of the water for Iturbe, Napoli did the same the year before with Higuain

I am not saying it's not allowed. But it's delusional to think Roma should expect to find the quality of Pogba, Vidal and Pirlo for example and spend only €10m. Of course Roma had to spend heavily- I was actually praising Juve' for their business- but I don't think Roma's business has been too disastrous. Yeah, there's been a few really bad signings and they really should have addressed the goalkeeper too, but they've got a lot of good players in too.

I didn't say they could find that quality for the same amount, what I'm saying is they should be title challengers with the amount of money they've spent, don't think that can be argued and to make out Roma are some plucky underdog against all the odds is folly

Same as Napoli should be doing a lot better than they are atm, Lazio are doing brilliantly, they really do deserve praise for their league position and performances so far this season

In fairness the points Roma have been reaching are actually to a good standard, again you have to praise Juventus' consistency in that regard.

I think it is a decent squad they have at the moment, it just needs a few additions, not a massive overhaul.

Agreed, Roma need a GK and 2 new FB's and probably a striker, if they could sell Destro this summer and get in a replacement and then get the other 3 then they'd be flying

For example if they got

Perin
Darmian
LB
CF

Just looking back through some of the previous years, Roma's total last season (85pts) would have won the title in many a season. I'd still argue that Serie A is very competitive- but that's probably down to the decline for the Milan teams, the rise of Napoli etc making the European spots more competitive.
