Was Marotta running the club when Juve signed him?
I think Juve are a bit more business savvy now and the state of Serie A means they have to recognise the financial limitations of the clubs compared to the big spenders in Europe.
I read the other day that all 20 premier league sides were in the top 40 for revenue last season.
It's a long process for Juve to get back to challenging, the financial situation isn't conducive to it, as long as we're consistently getting into the knockout stages and progressing over the next 2/3 years I'm happy
Juve used to spend quite a lot on role-players. Cant help but be impressed with the current team and how cheap it was to construct, but they still have an expensive bench.
What Juventus do now more often than not is buy in instalments, so while you might see Morata costs €16m it's over 4 years so it's obviously considerably less per year
Apparently a lot of teams do that though. RM with Modric, we did with Dembele etc.
Probably costs less than Inter, Roma and Napoli's team, though.
Obviously Juve have spent over the years. But so have Roma. And haven't achieved fack all in comparison.
Shame as I like Roma but I don't think you can really deny that they've been underachieving bottlers in Serie A over the years. This is the consensus.
The KING will retire with the Scudetto.
2 titles since the war would go to prove that Darren
In other news, I notice that Liverpool fans, the fans that worshipped and defended Suarez to ridiculous levels, are all up in arms and trying to take the moral high ground over Costa being a twaat.
You couldn't make them up if you tried.
I still wouldn't go as far to say that. There have been a fair few seasons where they haven't really bottled or underachieved as the competition has been too good.
If they ever had Zlatan though...
Mex, yep they're basically a less successful Spurs.
Zlatan was never actually that exceptional for Juve
They should have bought better players and got a better manager then.
Like they did once when they managed to win it with Capello and Batistuta.

Same thing vise-versa though. Chelskî fans who had such a moan about Sewerez now having a cry about Costa being 'victimised'.
It was all about Alex and Trezegol
Roma should not have appointed Zeman again, but the Garcia appointment has been good.
Who do people actually fancy to win the Juve' vs Dortmund game?
---------------------------Buffon------------------------------
Thuram----------Kovac-----Cannavaro-----Zambrotta
------------Camoranesi----Vieira----Nedved---------------
----------------------------Del Piero-----------------------------
-------------Trezeguet-----------Ibrahimovic---------------
Lost 1 game all season
Can't call it. Dortmund have so much room for improvement and time to get back some form in time for the game.
On current form I fancy Juve. But a lot can change between now and then. Especially with Reus coming back.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
All depends on the first leg, I think if Juve can win the first leg they can hold a lead in Dortmund, if it's score draw or a defeat I think they'll go out
Juve are actually getting stronger and stronger as the season goes on, the switch to 4-3-1-2 really seems to be taking hold and Paul Pogba has probably been the best player in the world in 2015 so far, extraordinary player
Yep but they're playing in Europe which is a different kettle of fish for Juve.
This one is really hard to call as the league form of both sides aren't reflected in Europe.
Any idea which other CL game is on the same day? Hopefully it's someone like Porto vs Basel so I won't miss one of the big games.
People talk football too seriously on this thread.
I think Juve will beat Dortmund, purely because the midfield will dominate the battle and Pirlo is very effective when pressed.
That being said, I dunno how the rest of the Juve team will cope, Italian teams don't press like other European teams.
"People talk football too seriously on this thread."
Proceeds to talk about midfield battles and pressing.
In all seriousness, though, I don't think Pirlo is that good against teams that press high up anymore.
If Dortmund play that game like they're capable of I think Vidal and Pogba are the more likely players to shine against Dortmund than Pirlo, as much as I love him.
