Past transfer windows are irrelevant. We are entering a new era as the old era is over. We should not be looking at past windows for indications as to what will happen in this one.

In the last (summer) transfer window we got RVP and Kagawa.

Best players in the Premier League and the Bundesliga.

It's still relevant. Top players rarely were enticed to join us under Ferguson. And I am including young talented players like Sanchez, Lucas, Hazard, Benzema in that. With Moyes at the helm this is hardly going to change. Ferguson was one of the greatest managers. It's relevant of course.

Except that you could write a list as long as your leg of top players who joined in the Ferguson years.

Whatever! The best players in those leagues are Gotze and Cazorla!

As I said on the odd occasion. Kagawa was not the best player in the Bundasliga that season. Reus got the reward. But not doubting Kagawa's talent though. Just pointing out your mistake.

Kagawa is a player from a continent that worships United. No surprise he wanted to join. RVP had huge respect for Ferguson. I doubt he would have joined if it was this season that we targeted him.

You say that to yourself. RVP is the best and you know that.

Top players never really come to united even under fergie. Best of British mainly did but apart from van persie only veron came and that was due to the passport scandal. United will but a midfielder just not the players mentioned......my gut feeling its Felleini when all the other buds are rejected, but that's life and united still have a fookin good team as it is

Thiago was never going to happen as predicted..And I'll predict now that Fabregas is also a pipe dream.

You are not making any earth shattering predictions there are you?

Cleverson and Carrigasawa for 2013/14 - I rock n roll all night and party every day (U1042)

None of those were the best in their positions or close at the time.

Agreed Whiteside

Too many people on here are freaking out. If worst comes to the worst and we have to blood our youngsters then so be it.

Some of the posters on here make me laugh. This is all Barca playing hardball, we'll go back with an improved offer

He said top players, not the best in their position.

Why do we need to buy the best players in their position anyway? What we should be signing are quality players who can fit into the squad and the desired way of playing.

I am confused by the information coming out of the club in recent months.

First SAF said the club had been working for months on targets.

Next Moyes says our transfers might happen towards the end of the window

Then we have a bid rejected for Baines and fail to follow this up.

Moyes then says CM is the priority

Then we are told Thiago, one the worlds most promising CM's is not a priority

After Thiago moves we bid for Fabregas which is rejected..

Not impressed with the clubs handling of the transition from SAF to Moyes so far.

Dont get me wrong Im pleased we are in for players of the calibre of Fabregas but that counts for nothing if we dont get them.
