If they don't sell, as Arsenal have been able to talk to the player, Suarez can stay for the rest of his contract and they will get ZERO transfer fee. Suarez will not discuss a new contract with them and they will not be able to sell to someone else. Technically Liverpool can force Suarez to stay. But they then have to force him to stay for the rest of his contract. They can't change their mind in the future for someone else.
According to the sports lawyer in talksport.

This sounds like complete and utter bóllocks.
And I haven't even factored in the fact it's from Talsport, of all places.
That is stupid, and you're stupid for believing it.
In fact it's laughable what you lot would spout to convince yourselves that you are the only ones who can sign Suarez!
Barcelona can't sell Fabregas to anyone else.
--------------------
Barca can sell to anyone as along as they offer him first to Arsenal. And Arsenal say pass.
So if liverpool say no, your saying Liverpool have a 50m asset which is now worthless
Do you believe this ??
In fact it's laughable what you lot would spout to convince yourselves that you are the only ones who can sign Suarez!
--------------------
No that only happens if Liverpool turn it down now for sometime in the future. Real Madrid could come in now and also meet his release clause and Liverpool could sell him to Real Madrid.
WTF are you on about?
There is no release clause..
In fact it's laughable what you lot would spout to convince yourselves that you are the only ones who can sign Suarez!

--------------------
Suarez is not useless. You have the player for the next 3 years. But Real Madrid could certainly come in now or in the future and Suarez can allow the move.
Basically what he is saying is that by turning down the release and forcing Suarez to stay, the power will change from the club to the player.
there is no release clause
Let me get this right, your saying if Liverpool say no to arsenal because they have bid above 40m, they can't sell him to anyone ???
There is no release clause..
------------------
There is a release clause. According to everyone. However the clause means different things in different leagues.
Liverpool think that the release means they don't have to sell. But by turning down the release the power will shift from the club in the future to the player as it does in a Bosman.
There is a release clause. According to everyone.

In what does it shift to the player
It's utter garbage your talking
Let me get this right, your saying if Liverpool say no to arsenal because they have bid above 40m, they can't sell him to anyone
-----------------------
Without the express permission of Suarez. Keep in mind I said future transfer windows. Another club could come in now and Liverpool can sell to them as long as it is £40m+.
In normal transfers the club can negotiate with anyone and then the player negotiates wages with that club. In future Suarez will say if he goes or not because of this clause.
Its complex and I am not trying to wind up anyone. Take it for what it is from this lawyer. Obviously he hasn't seen the clause either.
what's been being reported pretty consistently is that if you make a bid over £40 mil you get automatic permission to talk terms with the player, make your sales pitch on a move, etc.
Basically you can talk to the player without violating tapping up rules.
Arsenal met that threshold and there is nothing to stop Suarez and Wenger sitting down to discuss a potential future.

From what i have seen of you on here before it is clear that you know what you are talking about. But in this case how certain are you about this release/bosman scenario?

A player says whether he goes anyway
I don't know what the hell, you've been listening too
As we learned with Salif Diao, if a player doesn't want to leave a club, he doesn't have to
He can see out his contract unless the club buys him out.

M8 I have no idea. I do have law training but these are very complex details and rules that are very specific to the premier league.
Obviously this bloke on talksport is a sports lawyer. I am not a sports lawyer.
What I think he is trying to do is work out how these clauses work in the premier league. In Spain its a simple release. Its not the same in this country thats why Liverpool are correct according to him. They can force Suarez to stay. However he said that Arsenal/Suarez are also correct in that Liverpool have to allow Suarez to negotiate with Arsenal and if Liverpool then force him to stay, the power will shift from the club to the player for future negotiations. And Suarez can say alright as you are doing this against my wishes I will leave on a Bosman only. Thus Liverpool will not be able to sell him in the future and he can run down his contract.

Yeah, and you told me the other day that such a clause is illegal and cannot exist.... how'd that work out for ya?
Seriously. Have a word with yourself.
