Well, what is the biggest league in the world? The English premier league and Bale is one of the stars of that.

He is British (which appeals to a wider demographic than a Brazilian), quite handsome and if he joins Madrid he will become even more of a superstar who will most likely become part of a dream marketing team up with Ronaldo.

But hey, those are my opinions and I could be wrong where you just make the sweeping statement that Neymar is 100% the more marketable player.

Beckham apart I would have every Brazilian superstar as being more marketable than the British counterpart and Ronaldinho wasn't that far from Beckham in that department.

Bale would cost more because Spurs don't want to lose him, and thus far he hasn't caused a fuss. It also costs more to buy from the PL, as it costs clubs far more to replace players than it does in Brazil.

If Real Madrid feel Bale is the man to complete their team in order to enable them to win the Champions League they will be more than willing to pay over the odds.

What United paid for RvP was over the odds due to various factors. But it was decided he was the vital player who would score the goals to bring back the title. Therefore paying that extra few millions over what would be a reasonable price was seen as worth while. And it worked out well.
Real will have to decide if getting Bale is vital and put their own limit on how much they will pay.
