The way the world of football is, money talks.
Very few 'abroad' teams could afford Rooney or Suarez, it will be a business decision more than a football decision that decides where, if anywhere, they end up.
Sad but true.
That exactly why he shouldn't be sold to Arsenal, your not telling us anything we don't already know!
Agree withy most of that. But why couldn't Bayern, Barca, Madrid and even maybe Dortmund afford either of them 2? Maybe not Dortmund now because they've spent most of their money. Even Juve as well.
If Arsenal can afford a £50M-rated Suarez, surely all these others can? The majority of the money is from CL earnings for getting CL football.
both would rather sell abroad than to a rival, but wouldn't surprise me if either dont go any where.
as Hector says money talks, and its a business to the owners or most any way,not a passion like it is to the fans.
end of the day we want whats best for our club, whatever that may be.
I see other teams maybe challenging Liverpool to break the top four. Swansea, Southampton and West Ham even to name three.
I think we will challenge if we don't get many key injuries and RVP can repeat his form of last season ! But I make Chelsea favourites. They have De Bruyne, Schurrle, Van Ginkel, Lukaku to add to last year's squad and possibly another forward at some point, hopefully not Rooney !
You're applauding Moyes and not Liverpool when both players are still at their clubs, both have said they don't want to sell and both I assume would rather sell abroad and not just utd.
I don't think we will sell to Arsenal. It would be a suicidal move.
This is the thing now jenners. Football isn't a Sport, it's a business. Never really liked these saga's with MASSIVE money involved.
As a gooner I agree with op.
However, even with our current squad I believe we can get fourth and be ahead of pool.
It was one of our worst seasons last and we still finished 12 points ahead of pool.
£50M is a lot of money and pool could bring in 2 or 3 top players with that type of money
I really will lose a hell of a lot of faith in the club if Suarez is sold to Arsenal no matter how much he kicks and screams.
I'd rather pay his wages and put him in the reserves than sell him to Arsenal and strengthen the only current top 4 side we could realistically catch.
But why couldn't Bayern, Barca, Madrid and even maybe Dortmund afford either of them 2?
....................
You could maybe throw in another 4 or 5 teams, but then that would be it, very small pot of teams could afford the transfer fee and wage demands.
English teams are incredibly rich compared to their foreign counterparts.
Rooney is not that highly rated abroad so will struggle to find.a club that will pay his wages.
Suarez on the other hand can as he's probably on half what Rooney is on but has a better international pedigree. His problem is his behaviour and current ban.
It was one of our worst seasons last and we still finished 12 points ahead of pool.

please tell me who these players are? also if it is so easy why are you not bring in the supposed 2-3 quality players instead of targeting one player?
be harder for us than you to attract them as we don't have European football, we also wont pay silly wages.
imperative we either keep Luis or sell abroad, we will not replace his quality, and strengthening you lot is just plain fecking stupid.
Rooney is not that highly rated abroad so will struggle to find.a club that will pay his wages.

Based on what evidence?
I travel and work all over Europe and everyone i talk to about football rates Rooney highly.
You can't just write any old BS in the hope you are right
If Liverpool sell Suarez to Arsenal then quite simply it will be the turning of a corner in our illustrious history.
A corner that says 'we're no longer a great club'
That's funny cos I travel throughout Europe too and people abroad dont get the Rooney hype. They talk about his suspect touch, weight issues, big game mentality and world cup record

Is there any merit to the argument that getting shot of Suarez will improve LFC's image?
The negativity he alone creates sucks out a lot of the positive stuff at LFC., fans feel their tribal loyalty demand they try and justify his behaviour which also paints LFC in a bad light.

......
That's an interesting point. Perhaps neutrals would be better equipped to answer it.
As a fan of Liverpool Fc however, I can tell you that this is not a situation we're used to and for the first time, i'm starting to feel like just another premier league club
Fans will always find a reason to hate another club. We're all hypocrites.

Thats not good, but sadly a reflection of 'money buying success'.

That's the biggest load if tosh I've ever read. He is very highly rated abroad, I'd suggest more so than here, especially is Spain.
He has had a good record in Europe over the years which I'd assume has a big impact.
"Is there any merit to the argument that getting shot of Suarez will improve LFC's image?"
not really, image is just storm in a tea cup thing
winning and entertaining trump all else at the end of the day. If you look at all the 'sins' of Chelsea, United, Arsenal, Spurs, etc players no one gives a monkeys. We're no different. It just feeds feigned outrage and paper banter, nothing else.

Fair enough, I disagree though.
Suarez is a great footballer but a complete loon that imo brings goals and a shedload of negativity to LFC.
big game mentality
---------------------------
You must just attract dumb people then.... His big game mentality is impeccable.
Goals against all the top teams in the PL and most of Europe, including a goal in the CL final.
Maybe you just speak to the kind of people who just watch the world cup? Girls and know nothings?
