We may well have other targets in our sights but why would he tell us that?
I think it is fair, we have as a club wasted enough the past few years.
The right signing or no signing. simples.
Basically saying that if he doesn't appear to be getting value he won't spend it.
Probably more for the sake of clubs our targets are at.
I think you guys are done in the transfer market unless you get £50m for Suarez then you might get one big player.
Actually very impressed with BR signings and conduct over transfer window. He bought smart probably even players he could of afforded at Swansea.
There is plenty of value in the market but we just don't have any money to compete. Owners don't want to throw any money and are happy that we are a sustainable club rather than a realistic top 4 competing club.
BR knows what players he want's he will not throw money away which is sensible, not like some I could mention.
FSG out
It's a fancy way of saying we don't have much money to spend.
Well the one thing you DON'T do is tell the market that you DO have money to spend so that everyone puts their prices up by 25%
That's a no-brainer surely
Greasey thats something the manager and skipper have already been guilty off

I'm glad to report that we top the league when it comes to cost cutting on wages though
Its a pretty sensible approach. He wants value, he wants quality, he wants the right sort of player. If that player is not available we don't waste money. If that player becomes available then we try to buy. Its pretty simple and should be an apparoach that we as fans should appreicate.
We've wasted a lot of money over the years, Aquilani Keane, Downing, Carroll, Adam, Dossena etc etc
I much prefer the new approach.
ARE there might a be a special FFP trophy for us doing so well with wage reduction
"We don't have much money to spend" well what about how much we spent in January??? With no player sales pretty much we bought a couple of targets early because we needed to.. Right now we don't need much, the team we had from January was better than the team we had up till January so really I think Liverpool will be a bit of a dark horse next season the team was strengthened before the summer window and people forget this...
kash, are you joining the dark side alongside ARE and shortlight?
Maybe we should go and waste/throw money around for the sake of it just to satisfy some fans, and when it doesn't work we should throw even more money until the club goes bankrupt. Hasn't the signing of the likes of Downing for £20m, etc taught some people a lesson?

Greasey and Redinthehead - sensible comments.
I swear some people just want blank cheque book owners, make Liverpool into a Chelsea/City mark 3.
Looking for value when spending money is considered an admirable trait in every area of life unless it's football apparently.
We brought well in January, hopefully we've brought well during the summer so far. All have been brought in for reasonable amounts of money. There is simply no point in spending for the sake of it, if the right players aren't available at the right price then move on.
And who knows maby they cut the cost generate the money sell deadwood replace with better players then make top four and boom we have a wa chest to ensure we stay there... So we break even this summer have say 20 million spare then next summer another 30 or something then the big name players we all crave can be approached... This is the right way to do it.. Just remember FSG have already given Liverpool almost 100 million in loans they are not just going to write that off and not going to keep giving the club money to get in more debt.. We were already a lot stronger by end of last season.. Stuff that should go in our favour also - a fully fit Lucas, a more established Coutinho, an older Sterling (one year on at that age makes a massive difference) a less d
Whoops hit send.. A less calamity esq keeper, a more settled squad ect... Like I said I think honestly Liverpool are going to surprise a lot of people this season...

FJM i've always had 1 foot in the dark side.
It's not about throwing stupid money on Downing, Carroll etc but we do need to show ambition. We still have weaknesses from last season not addressed which is a concern and people keep talking about how well we finished last season. We did the same under KK but when we all started at 0 points it was a total different story. We were playing under no pressure.
Like some have said this could just be a decoy so well see what happens when the season starts and deadline day
It's sensible to want value for money.
I completely agree with not spending money for the sake of it.
The fact is that it's difficult for us to attract top players. Not impossible but difficult, so it's right that we are choosy.
With no Europe I don't believe the squad needs massive changes to compete this season, we have already done most of the work required.
People keep going on about improving the first team but that wasn't the issue. The problem is our lack of depth.
Our first team is not perfect, but I believe Toure and Mignolet will be improvements, as will Aspas, and the squad will be much stronger than last season and recent seasons.
People expecting us to have 25 top players will be disappointed, but that's their fault for having unrealistic expectations.

How do you do that? Money certainly doesn't. The players you sign do.
Downing cost £20m, but shows lack of ambition, however Coutinho cost £8m and his performance and potential speaks for itself.
We still have money and matching Dortmund's offer of £22m for MKH clearly shows this. It's just that we couldn't get to speak to him.
