to free up space for the Celtic schemer.

doesn't paint a nice picture of the player lol

If we were to lose any of our 4 strong midfielders for that amount i would sell kayal IMO

I think the board would sell him. He is a fantastic young player and has settled in well despite coming from Korea to Scotland.

If Modric is worth £30million then Ki is surely at least half the player Modric is? £8 million seems cheap! Mcgeady went for more! Hutton went for more! Surely £15-20 mill is more the value if Ki?

posted on 8/8/11

That's a ridiculous valuation after one season. Do Spurs not have enough central midfielders anyway?

would never punt kayal, mans a total work horse.

I agree. No player in Scotland will EVER be worth more than £10million.

Ki is a star, cool and calm presence that can mix it when needs be and there is no one in Celtics squad who is so prepared to take on the long range blasters or who plays the game with such obvious joy.

Bids below £12m from english teams should be heartily laughed at.
The EPL set the valuations, Lawwwell would be a fool not to play them at their own game, and Pinstripe is nobodys fool.

hector makes a good point.

i dont think Ki is worth 10-15 million. but lets be honest, premiership clubs pay well over the odds for players who arent nearly worth as much as the fee paid.

we should be playing them at their own game. romanov done it with gordon and got his way.

not that hes an example, the lunatic.

It's just paper talk if you ask me.

If Spurs come in with an offer of 8mil then you take it and buy a decent forward and reinvest the rest.

Ki has started brightly and I believe he will go on to have a good season so I hope he doesn't go.

No way would I sell Kayal, if we had to sell any of our starting midfield then it would be Brown, especially if it was 8 mil.

Carlton Cole will not come to scottish football, his wages will be through the roof and he will not want to risk losing out on an England call up by playing in a below par league.

I really wanted Husekellp from Brann but that looks like it's not happening. We need a striker in the mould of Chris Sutton, although we will not get one who is as good for the money we will spend.

I'd like to get Sturridge on loan form Chelesa but again I know it won't happen.

What is Ki's value to OUR team?

He's young, strong and obviously talented, I see him being our lynchpin in a year or 2, why sell ourselves short? or sell him for peanuts?

Modric sale would mean 'Arry would have money burning (like a bus outside WHL) a hole in his pocket

hector

he was in and out of the team last year, all be it due to leaving in january for a spell, prior to that he was one of our best players.

what i will say though is that our league is substander compared to the spl.

i wouldnt pay the same money for a top la liga player as i would for a top honduran player if you get me.

id test harry with a 6 month swap deal with ki going there to see how he gets on and us getting gareth bale to cover izzy

i know bale is not izzy's class but he isnt far away....

Is this £8million plus Bale?

In that case I'd entertain the bid.

£8million may be a considerable amount to us, but it is peanuts to the EPL clubs. Jordan Henderson went for £20million without doing much. Ki is still very young but has played in World Cup's etc. They can pay the going rate. I'm not saying he is worth that, but in relativity then he should be. I'm with Hector, Ki could be a future captain he is very good and actually loves Celtic we should not sell ourselves short.

We do have a substandard lge compared to the top lges, but if Jordan Henderson, who has done heehaw in his young career, is worth £20M and Charlie Adam is worth £8m then an established internationalist with experience of satisfying a very picky home club support has to be worth double-digit millions.

If Redknapp sees Ki as a replacement for Modric then surely he must see the Korean as a comparable talent? Which manager would want to replace the teams most important player with another of far inferior ability? Especially when money isn't an option. If Ki went and had a Charlie Adam season in the EPL how much would he be worth then? £10m might seem to be a lot in the SPL, but Ki at that price could also be a bargain for an EPL team.

posted on 8/8/11

not sure if ki would have time and space in congested epl midfields

but him and kayal could play top leverl epl football easily

posted on 8/8/11

Would I be fair in saying that he is an essential player in our team? I think that would be fair. It should be about what he is worth to us; we are selling and are calling the shots. I think that I would be disappointed with £8million. Because I do not honestly think we could buy a player of Ki's ability for that who would come to Scotland. If Championship players are costing £8million-£12million then I think we would be selling ourselves short.

I've seen a few people saying the phrase "he's not worth X amount"

How can anyone value a player?

The value of a player is determined by what someone will pay for them. Sure, a club can have a minimum price that they would accept for a player but quite a lot of the time clubs get over the odds.

For example, Sunderland just paid £12million (£8million with installments adding up to 12) for Connor Wickham. A championship player untested at international level.
We have Ki. An established and international player whose country is quite well respected these days.

That is the first thing you mention in negotiations. Sunderland paid £12million, so we'll start there ...

posted on 8/8/11

I would value our midfield at at least £35million, honestly.

Kayal- £12million
Ki-£10million
Brown-£5million
Ledley-£4million
Commons-£4million

ki the racist?

posted on 8/8/11

mate you cant say we would need 12mil

i garentee if spurs said theres 7mil we would bite there hand off

mabye even 5.5-6mil

championship players and more importantly english young player are a premium due to new rules

ki will be top player but if club gets offer of over 6mil id expect him to be gone within a week
