Agree. If this £40m+ clause turns out to be a waste of time, we should offer them the £50m and see what happens.
My guess is, Liverpool will reject the bid and old out for £55m, in which case Suarez will throw an almighty strop and hand in a transfer request, maybe even go on strike.
Ignore what Liverpool say. Arsenal are convinced that the clause is relevant. And they believe Liverpool will have no choice when we qualify for the CL.
What happens when Liverpool hold tight and refuse to sell and suddenly the transfer window runs out and he's still there? There's no use crying over a release clause then, even if we take them to court for £10m that's useless!
J99 is right though. The fact that Arsenal have remained tight lipped, and it's Liverpool who:
a) Made the bid public
b) Continue to talk about Arsenal
shows that they are ruffled. If a club is in a strong position, they will reject the bid, and remain quiet after.
Something tells me Wenger is confident of this release clause, and that is why he is adament we'll not bid a pound more then it's required.
We don't know Arsenal's secret plans. But they must have contingencies. Ornstein has some very specific information and seems very genuine. He stated that court action by Suarez is very real and its not about the Arsenal transfer anymore. He is desperate to leave Liverpool as he feels they have lied to him.
Do you really think Arsenal wll fork out £40m-£50m onone player,i knew you lot were deluded but come on.
Btw Wum your Arsenal only thread is sad and quite pathetic,i thought you were better than that tbh .
Have you seen Rodger's comments today? Way out of his depth that clueless guy.

The only thing that's sad and pathetic is that you actually read through it like a thick moron. Each to his own, eh?
I'm 99% sure Arsenal have at least one backup target to Luis Suarez. No way we are putting all our striker eggs in one basket.

Was that addressed to me?
Away from the Suarez saga, what I want to see addressed is the midfield. It is pretty worrying at the moment.
Does Rodgers think he scares us? He did exactly the same to Swansea. Hypocrisy at its best. And fans know that. Even the 10 year olds on this forum.
Wayne Rooney will issue a transfer request. Do Man Utd want to sell to Chelsea? Rooney to Arsenal could be one of those contingencies.

Wenger mentioned that Cesc would definitely stay for another year. I believe he was on standby if Cesc was made available, but i think he's convinced Cesc wil staay regardless of what United to.
That, to me, means he can move forwards with this other midfield targets.
The only thing that's sad and pathetic is that you actually read through it like a thick moron. Each to his own, eh?
I've never read through it mate,i clicked on Football and it was the first thread that come up,i asked you a very reasonable question as you know but you banned me,like i said it is sad and very pathetic,no wonder everybody laughs at you lot on these boards when you cant even handle a reasonable debate.
It's an Arsenal thread ONLY. Which part of that don't you get?
I keep saying we should move on with Cesc. He is no longer our player and I am sure he'd jump at the chance to sign for Utd over us. There isn't exactly a shortage of midfield talent is there now that we can afford it. Hamsik anyone?
Jenius
Spot on. I really wonder how a 40m bid can be insulting and classless. And in what way have we acted without class in this saga? I think you are right. The clause may be real and they have been rattled and so they are running scared.

I know you don't like Cesc. But this statement is absurd. Cesc has repeated numerous times his preference is Arsenal. What was the point in Cesc agreeing to all those clauses if that wasn't true?
I think it was the addition of the extra pound that insulted the Scousers. Not sure why. The clause required us to bid in excess of £40m. Personally i would have added a penny more only.
Jenius
I guess we are going to have to wait and see with that one. Mind you I am almost never wrong with people. Also, I haven't seen a single comment from him about having an Arsenal preference.
The £1 showed a lack of class on Arsenals part.
That's how it's been seen. People laughed.
Why the £1.
Imagine UTD did that for RVP? What would've been your reaction?
Just made Arsenal look silly.

That could very well be it! I would have bid 40m + Chamakh. That would still be in excess right? Imagine them having to accept the bid.
