We need a better striker, that's all it's down to. If we want to compete we need a world class striker, Giroud is not.
Who gives a sh|t what Giroud is thinking? He should be concerned. He's a sh|t striker and would have been dropped after the first 6 games with any other club.
He can count himself lucky that we have a deluded mug in charge, willing to keep on giving him a chance.
Good player but he is a 20 goal a season striker, we need more than that to challenge for trophies.
they can play together, suarez can help giroud to score more goals
He's a sh|t striker and would have been dropped after the first 6 games with any other club.
------------------
Spurs? Chelsea? Those two clubs had one striker between them who outscored Giroud last season, and he was Torres who scored half his goals against crap teams in the CWC and Europa league.
Good player but he is a 20 goal a season striker, we need more than that to challenge for trophies.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
At least give him the chance though? You might have enough to win a Trophy this season as I don't put you anywhere near the favourites for the Title at this time. You don't a World Class striker to win you the League/FA Cup do you.
Chelsea don't have a World Class Striker out of there current Strikers, Ba, Torres and Lukaku and they seem to be right up there for the Title this season it seems. I've put a bet on them to win it this year.
He said he wants another striker to join the club in his interview after the napoli match
We shouldn't be taking chances on Giroud miraculously getting better in his second season. We know where we're lacking so we should just sign a world class striker, it's simple.
Can't take a risk with Giroud, however he feels about it.
He will get a chance but just not as the main man, he simply isn't talented enough. We don't have enough depth as well, other than giroud who can play up-front and do well enough? Just like RVP made united title winners a similar effect can happen if we bring in suarez.
He should be thinking wow I'm so lucky to be at this club. I think players don't mind signings so long they don't take their place. In Giroud's case his place will be taken.
who knows?? sechs, football, family?
anyway, Arsenal are not a charity, we have ambitions, and even though arsene tries to put young players careers ahead of the club, those days are coming to an end. We need a better striker, and that's what arsene has been looking to buy.
Our current strike force helped us get 4th and no trophies, maybe we're aiming higher now
also, is life on the bench all that bad?
So be it, Chelsea are making offers for Rooney and Spurs have signed Soldado. But will they get Rooney? Moyes doesn't want to sell him, unlikely.
Is Soldado any better really? Lets have a think, no PL experience, much more expensive, has the consistency to score 20 goals a season (like Giroud) and Giroud has done it for the last 2 seasons now. I'd say they're about =.
So your not really falling behind anyone around you at the moment.
The advantage of a striker like Suarez would be that he could complement Giroud very well. Giroud will get tons of games next season.
He either has a jelly baby or a skittle in his head
Who cares what he thinks. He is average and sentiment is irrelevant in football. He should be thinking that he is not good enough and must improve.
giroud is better then soldado but arsenal shiouldnt worry about tottenham,
You might be aiming higher, but what's to say Giroud is going to have a stronger season and a World Class Striker might have a poor one? We don't know yet, that's why I'm saying give him a chance.
It doesn't take a World Class Striker to win you a Trophy. Consistency, Confidence and the Will to Win is what you need.
That's Arsenal's problem now, consistency. Spend £100M a season if you like, but, you need consistency. Giroud got 20+ goals in his first Premier League season and got around the same tally last season, I'd say that is pretty consistent to me. Now that he's used to English Football, he might get 25 goals, then maybe better etc. He looked a better Striker the back end of last season to me.
He was worth £12.5M and Suarez is worth £55M and he only scored 10 goals less than him? Baring in mind Suarez has a good chance of getting a ban again this season, a trouble causer, only going to be surrounded with media shít this season because of his move and he is already banned for the New Season.
"You might be aiming higher, but what's to say Giroud is going to have a stronger season and a World Class Striker might have a poor one? We don't know yet, that's why I'm saying give him a chance"
Logic.
Who gives a sh|t what Giroud is thinking?
--------
Good point about consistency, I think wenger is definitely working towards that by focusing on keeping the same squad as last season, at the same time it is vital to strengthen the squad with 2 or 3 high quality players. If that is the case and we add to this squad then we go to that next level
The problem is, you play too much along the floor, too slow in the final 3rd from your Wingers. Not Giroud or Cazorla. How about, you pass the ball, get towards the final 3rd, give it wide and put a ball in the box for him? He is a big powerful Striker who can score headers as proven at Montpellier and Arsenal respectively. 8/10 defenders will clear the ball safely at top clubs, but it is that 20% that could be a difference between a defeat/draw, all the points count, you've got to learn to grind out results better and you won't score well with any forward unless it is in the box, because Striker score more in the box rather than outside, just like Giroud. So put a cross in the box for him and you have a chance of scoring with any following in or with him heading it in or whatever. Any defence can look suspect from crosses/Set Pieces at times, like yourselves and Liverpool's defence looked suspect from the 'bigger' sides from crosses, the more times you put a ball into the box, the better chance you have. That's your downfall on him really.

What stats are you going by? I'm sure he didn't make 20 goals in all competitions. That said I like him and I think he could havew a good second season.
Exactly. You need consistency to win Trophies and Titles, not World Class players.
Look at man City last season for example. Look at all the money and World Class players they have, but they didn't win the league. There team is by far and away the strongest in the league, but Man United had the consistency that's how they won the league.
Don't think that World Class players will change that all of a sudden. They still need time to settle. Maybe that's what Giroud needed, time to settle. Which he may have done now. Consistently scoring 20+ goals a season for the last 2/3 seasons, good 1st year in the Premier League, maybe he needs to kick on now and show the ability he has.
Playing the ball on the floor is not a problem at all, the season before we bought Giroud, only 1 of his goals were headers, so unless all his goals were spectacular volleys, playing the ball on the floor was not a problem for him at all.
The problem for him is that he is not physically imposing enough to worry defenders and does not have the mobility required to succeed in the fast paced England game.
I'm sure he got something around 20 goals last season for Arsenal Kelly. May have been a couple away either side of 20, don't know for sure.
