No club can afford to pay £100million in cash in one sum, it's not possible it would cripple them regardless of who they are

Bale is worth in my eyes, around 30-40million

It's not even £100m straight up they are getting. Madrid are broke and so they will offer an installment package of £20m in 5 years. They are also still owed money for the Modric sale.

If i was Levy, i'll be a bald caant....and i'll reject that bid outright.

Madrid are not broke, they may not pay £100M in one go, but they can certainly pay the majority of it in a lump sum. Lets not forget they paid £80M in one go for Ronaldo, and like Ronaldo, Madrid will view Bale as a very marketable asset who would earn back his transfer fee alone in marketing revenue by the end of the season.

I'd stall the bid, keep hanging Real out and rejecting financial packages, then go to the media and say it;s a now

Bale plays

Bats, you must be joking. The whole Iberian penninsula is in financial crisis, and you think Madrid are exempt from it? The club is subsidised by the Government, and they're struggling to pay off their debts.

Madrid are essentially gambling their shirt sales and next years spending pot on Bale. They have little cash on hand, and are hoping Spurs will fall for the installments ploy.

For spurs, it's a bad deal on the field and off the field.

"it does make me laugh that they can be considered the biggest club in the world and ask to pay on the weekly."

Standard business practice.
Very big firms can screw their much smaller suppliers on payment terms. So Madrid are trying it on with Spurs. The difference is, that if a big firm has no other thumbscrews to apply, they will just pay up in the end for what they desire.

The difference here is that Madrid are facing a PR disaster.
If they believe, rightly or not, that Spurs are demanding too much for Bale, then the world knows Madrid do have a price they cannot go beyond.

If the deal collapses because Madrid will not pay on terms akin to say those of Spurs for Soldado, then their alleged financial strength is immediately under question.

Depends on how quickly that £100m was paid...

£20m a year for 5 years is worthless.

At least half of it upfront would work. Could still strengthen the squad although we'd know we'd have to pay over the odds to do so.

Real Madrid were forced to pay united £80m upfront for ronaldo and we should try to do the same. I wouldn't say they were broke but I'm sure it would stretch their budget far more than they'd accounted for beforehand. It's about time more teams stood upto Real Madrid

Real won't be able to afford Levy's financial demands,. I'll be surprised if Levy accepts any proposal they try to hand him

Madrid's ploy is simple. Declare their intentions to sign Bale in a very public manner, thus unsettling Bale. He will throw a strop. If they get really lucky, he might throw a tantrum and hand in a transfer request.

Spurs would have an unhappy Bale and so will be forced to consider Madrid's bid. Madrid will offer up the Installements options.

You know i hate you $puds, but i have to admire Levy. Guy has principals and he won't be fecked over by anyone, let alone those Spanish caaants. I'm pretty confident Bale isn't going anywhere.

Nobody can blame Madrid for trying it on.
If the roles were reversed, we'd expect no less from Levy.

Their only hope is that the Spurs summer spending has over-stretched the club, and that Levy will need cash pronto. But that doesn't appear to be the case (WTF is Chronic - he's supposed to have the THFC cash balances calculated) .

He's seen the problem and the dire need of a go between himself and Levy, that's since the appoitment of Baldini we have seen the players leave and important players coming into the team

Levy is for me a world class chairman and should be applauded for his financial stance,

He know's when to deal,

Imagine Levy on Deal or no Deal
