And how could he drop our joint top scorers? No idea! Pearson out!

We were moments away from an influx of posts!

We have 2 new joint top scorers now.

A rather spluttering start to the season but two wins.

I'll take playing rubbish and winning 2-1 in every game though!!

I do get a bad feeling about things though. I remember when we went top under Taylor and I said I could quite work out how we were winning games.

Let's hope I'm wrong, 3-5-2 works a treat and we start creating more than 1 chance before the 76th minute in games!!!!

And finally, what is it with Pearson an cup comps? He doesn't half seem to struggle in them!

It's gonna take a while for the new system to bed in, but all is good if we're winning in the mean time.

Lets see what Sunday brings

Sign of a good team not playing at their best and still managing to get the result (3 points or through to next round)...

Encouraging signs - big test on Sunday though... Leeds have a day less to prepare which could prove useful too. Will be interesting to see who NP starts with up front, as Wood hasn't scored yet but Vardy and Nugent have!

Great way to win a game though with virtually the last kick! We never do that! And from a corner too! Phenomenal!

Oh dear. So on top of having to not at any stage be in the bottom half (relegation looming), not be 7th-12th (mid-table mediocrity), and not be 3rd-6th (aiming for the play-off lottery again), Pearson now has to avoid being in the top two because that will be 'a return to the Taylor era'.

Jeez – it's gonna be a long season.

Good win, avoided a potential upset.
Going to take a few games to nail this 3-5-2 formation, but it we can keep sneaking wins whilst in transition then what a bonus.
It keeps the moaners away a while longer.
I just bet they are all chomping at the bit for our first defeat so they can come screaming and shouting Pearson out. lol Ill enjoy this while it lasts peaceful! I knew it would be a quiet night again on here as we won. So funny and predictable

I'm not saying he has to avoid being in the top 2 Fatfox. Well, I do require that we only get in the top two with the last kick of the last game (from a corner).

That I would accept!

I agree with Warwick - I think Sunday will be a good indicator of how this season will go. Win well, and I'll retract everything I've said and believe we'll storm the league. Scrape another win or draw and I'll maintain my cautious concern. Lose badly and I'll worry we're going to be relegated.

Basically I'm saying that Sunday has now become pivotal to our season a provides us with our first "must win" game this year........

Did we play 3-5-2 last night? I didn't hear the game on the radio but reading the line-up this morning it looks like a 4-4-2?

Did anyone on here go to the game and can give an accurate reflection of the match?

Personally, I am a Pearson neutral, but am very pleased with the start we have had. Not playing great by most accounts but grinding out wins. This can only be good and hopefully the general play will pick up as the seasons develops and players start to gain full match fitness and get used to the new system.

Dyer was used as a Left Wing Back.

Allegedly.

How can anyone not be pleased with two wins out of two?! But with all respect to the doubters, shouldn't you be kicking them (us) after a few more games have been played?

Our next three home games are Leeds, Birmingham and Wigan. If we come out of those relatively unscathed, then by all means stick the boot in!

For the record, the doubters support the same club as you. They just perhaps feel that the squad and possibly aspects of the management style will not makes us contenders for the Champions League in the next two seasons!

All very well prawn, and yes your right let's not get carried away and "stick the boot in" just yet

But

Would the doubters wait that long before sticking the boot in?

Oh, the beautiful symmetry of an injury time winner against Wycombe. Doesn't quite expunge the pain of 2001, but it'll do to be going on with.

Nice though it was to start with a win on Saturday, I see that 'Boro lost 1-2 at home again last night...

...to the mighty Accrington Stanley.

Sunday might be a better indicator of where we are.

We have played 2 and won 2 , both away from home.May not tell the full story, but we would have taken this situation a few days ago.Lets see what sunday brings.
Nothing will ever erase the pain of our previous encounter with Wycombe, which sent us into freefall and put us back years.

You're right Thorney, 2 out of two, away, is a great start.

There were a few banana skins about last night – Brighton losing at home to Newport, Ipswich and Wednesday losing to lower league opposition. Wycombe could easily have been one for us, so a good result.

Good start to the season 2 wins from 2 though the league cup is a nothing match.

I havent been to any of the matches so cant comment on performances but nice to be winning games.

Will reserve judgement on 3-5-2 as over the course of a season whether its succesful or not we dont have the personnel for it.

Indeed Prawn. We all have a right to express our opinions and it is the variety of opinions that make this forum worthwhile.

For the record I am a doubter. I think that promotion this season will be a very tough ask and I think that Pearson has certain limitations as a manager. I don’t, however, think that Pearson is the major factor that will ensure that we are unable to compete this season. I know that many will have a contrary opinion.

What I personally get a bit fed up with, however, is an endless diatribe of anti-Pearson sentiment when things are going badly, or when nothing very much is happening at all (i.e. close season), and nothing at all when things are going relatively well. If those posters stuck around they would be able to draw on plenty of evidence from our last two games that Pearson may be moving the team in the wrong direction.

I agree that the first 10 games will be the first real yardstick of our progress, but offering a balanced view now would show courage in one’s convictions. I may be wrong, but it seems to me that there are a few waiting in the wings to say: “I told you so” if things go wrong who will disappear completely if things go well. I’m afraid there are some posters whose views I ignore for that reason as they add very little to my enjoyment of the debate.

TOF

This is sort of i am right you are wrong comments which does nothing for debate. I am really chuffed we have won our first two games and that NP is working his squad well..... So lets not start if my aunty had balls she would be my uncle type non debate.

We have not played well and won players are trying to play a new system so lets enjoy the ride.

Rather gloating how wonderful we are not the so called moaners.

I'm confused.

The doubters are now the supporters
The believers are now the doubters
All doubters and believers are still supporters
The supporters want the doubters to believe
The believers are sacred to believe in case the doubters are right

I think I've got it!

I believe (albeit with some doubts).

Merseyside.
