It's way too early to think about where Forest will finish.....lets not start getting over excited, and using the "P" word, after 2 games....we did that before....and we didn't go up.
We need to give Forest more time for the team to gel properly. There's been alot of new faces coming in (and i'd expect 2 or 3 more before the transfer window closes), so it's going to take time for them to learn how each other plays.
As supporters we need to keep our feet firmly on the ground....at least until April. By then we'll have a better idea of the chances of success this time around.
That is a hard run, though. Will probably give some indication of how competitive we could be against the top two.
Tbf, its almost like a level gauge that run, that gets harder as you go along.
Blackburn are good, but would expect midtable.
Bolton you would expect to contend for the POs
Watford you would expect to win the POs
Wigan you would expect to be automatic contenders.
Will test both attack and defense, and the only side that have had any kind of shake up is wigan
But its early doors, how can you have a game plan, when we wouldnt even know our game plan? hit them before they click on, get points from our contenders and move on to less arduous teams like barnsley, boro, donny, and derby.
6 points from the first four and i'd be happy.
What is wrong with some forest fans!?!
Why do we need any targets or expectations after 5 games? It shows is almost nothing. We could win all five and still miss playoffs. We could lose all five and still go up. It will tell is very little about our chances. All we need to do is back the team. One thing a BD team always does is give it's all. So as long as that's happening we will be ok. But if we get the typical 'fickle' forest fans moaning after 5 games cause we are not in the top three, then it just has a negative effect on things.
We have no right to the top 6, there are plenty of good squads in this league. We will do well to get too six. Buy too many fans saying things like "with this squad we should be challenging for top 2". Such carp! Football doesn't work like that unless you have the squad and players that maybe Newcastle had a few seasons ago, or west ham, or maybe QPR and Wigan this season. I think we have a good squad but it's not head and shoulders above anyone else's in my opinion!
Reds - you're talking utter garbage mate. How can three games against the contenders not tell us anything?
At the moment we don't have a settled squad, most people would guess that Billy doesn't know his preferred starting eleven yet. Mackie has only been with the club for two weeks, if what we are hearing regarding Celtic is true, Wilson hasn't joined yet.............
It is going to take a couple of months for players to get to know each other and learn to play together.
Both Cardiff and Leicester are good examples of how much money can be wasted by trying to buy a promotion winning side.
If we manage to draw away and win at home, possibly lose one of the away games, that will be doing O.K!
That's a very tough run of matches, and whilst I don't agree it's a barometer of anythng other than those four matches, not doing so well in them could leave you looking up the table which in turn adds a bit of pressure.
On the other hand, it's hard to lead from the front as that brings it's own pressure and perhaps makes teams a bit more cautious about how they play you, so being 'in the mix' has it's advantages. As already stated, it's a long old season and nothing's won or lost in August so perhaps settle for the bumpy ride, take it philosophically whichever way it turns out and you'll be there or thereabouts come May.

I don't think it matters too much. In this league how you finish matters most. It'll give us an idea of where we are now. But where we are at the end of a long season matters most. And being average at the start of the season doesn't mean you won't end near the top

i am sure that most fans would be happy with a top six finish, even with the recent signings, because the relegated clubs look strong in their squads. in our favour possibly is our strong work ethic and togetherness but i would have thought that a top two finish is beyond us unless in january we are thereabouts
and billy uses the january window wisely
Every games important if you want promotion. Wasn't we two points off last season?
Also how can playing possibly four of the (on paper) top teams in the league be an indication of where were at?
Two points off playoffs, that should have read. *
And also *not be .......... Arrrrrrgh TAXI!!!!

Cardiff had a really great start, and then withered a bit towards the end, but they'd built up such a valuable lead that they couldn't be caught. Every point is important, like you said.
^ Also, Charlton finished just below us, and but for a poor start might well have been in the top 6.
Or thinking about it, Bolton prove that every point is vital, and their fantastic run of form at the end of the season meant absolutely nothing, all thanks to a crappy start.
