Madrid haven't done any better have they? With Atleti losing those two games Madrid would have won the league if they had won their games wouldn't they?

Gutted for Atletico

Title no longer in their hands.

Barca are certain favs now.
Atletico need a miracle.

posted on 11/5/14

No they need a draw.

madrid rested alot of players today
they've been thinking of the CL final since they won 0-4 in munich

coolinter..the title is still in atleti's hands.. a draw and they win the league

Difficult to see Atletico getting a draw.
They need to play incredibly well.

Hugely massive game for Atletico..

Barca at home are difficult team to contain let alone score against.

Im not trying to come across as negative & would dearly loved to be proved wrong.

Barca are favourites but Atleti could get a draw.

I wonder what's happened to Dr F, it's so long since he posted here. Thought we might at least see him after Sevilla made the EL final.

Also remembered his hatred of Atleti, would love to hear his thoughts on how the season's panning out.

AS reporting that Real Madrid haven't given up on La Liga title just yet.

Their latest strategy is a last minute swoop for 81-year-old Catalonian opera star Montserrat Caballé for their final game against Espanyol.

When the point of it being mathematically impossible for Real Madrid to lift the title now was driven home to Florentino Perez by his interviewer, the R. Madrid chairman simply replied:

"It ain't over till the fat lady signs."

Simeone deserves to win nothing

I have just made up my mind: ATLETICO will win La Liga and you might as well just crown them now.

This is the 3rd time that 2 sides with a chance of winning the title will meet on the final day. On both occasions, the visiting side came out champions:

1945-46 Barcelona-Sevilla
Champions: Sevilla
1950-51 Sevilla-Atlético
Champions: Atlético

That's not really much to go by, but kop a load of this:

The last time Austria won the Eurovision Song Contest:

Real Madrid won the European Cup
Atletico Madrid won La Liga (ahead of Madrid and Barça, in that order) and
Betis finished bottom of the table.

It seems more & more likely that Diego Costa will sign for Chelsea in the summer.

Is there any chance you think Atletico will look to Negredo to replace Diego Costa?

Think Negredo has fallen down the pecking order at Citizens despite being instrumental in Citizens Carling Cup success.

posted on 12/5/14

I dont think Costa is a PL player. Always thought Cavani should have been their target

posted on 12/5/14

Cavani would have cost double the amount they are paying for Costa.

posted on 12/5/14

I think Costa has all the attributes to excel in the prem.

We shall see, however. Chelsea haven't had the greatest of times with strikers over the last ten years.

posted on 12/5/14

I just think he dwells too long on the ball, in la liga the extra touch can be very beneficial. Bit different over here.

posted on 12/5/14

I think he should be ok. People always talk about this time on the ball in the prem stuff but the majority of top players that have come from La Liga have excelled here.

posted on 12/5/14

Most the ones who have excelled have been the ones who play 'in the hole' though. Much more of a 'stand off' defensive approach in La Liga which leads to attackers being able to show off their individual brilliance more, yet also leads to less defensive mistakes.

posted on 12/5/14

Loads of teams in the prem play like that as well. Torres and Aguero don't play in the hole either.

I think the fact he's so aggressive will suit the league and Chelsea's style of play as well. We shall see, I guess.

PL defences generally give you more gaps of space than in La Liga. Costa just needs to shrug off defenders (which he's adept at anyway tbh), he'll be fine.

When do Spain announce their world cup squad?

Hoping Mata has done enough in the last couple of months to get a call up.

posted on 13/5/14

I hope so too, DTKF.

Though, i won´t be surprised if he doesn´t make it - sad but not surprised.

The likes of Torres, Navas and even Negredo ( who faded badly) should not be in the squad iMO.
