We have a COOK that has no use for ONIONS.

Likes been said 1000ss oft times.. Bresnan gets picked for his batting.. doesn't matter if hes worse or better than Onions.

The wickets that Onions would take on a wicket like this would more than make up for his deficiencies with the bat. If you don't take 20 wickets, you don't win a game of first-class cricket.

Anyway, Bresnan does not actually contribute that much with the bat on the evidence of this series so far. Got nothing against him, I think he's a good cricketer but Onions would have got much more out of this surface.

It was Onions' batting that saved from 1-3 series defeat in our last series in SA. We saved 2 defeats because SA's mighty bowlers could not get rid of Onions.

Never mind Bresnan, whats happened to our Jimmy?

Shocking decision to stick by bresnan and not pick onions for this test.the Aussies have made bowling changes each test which have worked and shuffled the batting order around to better effect while england have done nothing. Bairstow should also have been dropped, root put back to 6 and Compton or carberry brought in to open.

Benny, couldn't agree more.

I never wanted Root to open. I went for Trott... Both have had a pretty average series though.

I have sympathy for Onions, I think he's a good bowler - who is unfortunate to be around when we have a few to pick from.

But if I were Onions and you aren't being selected at the ground where you're averaging 19's this season you have to wonder whether its worth having another Christmas away from home to not play in Australia.

With 5 wickets here, Broad has confirmed his position for another 5 years.
