Arsé and elbow ones to mind!
A few fans on twitter questioning whether we have any actual money to spend. I think we will be in profit after downing which will provide the money for siqueira.
Are the owners just trying to find the right targets or is there a lack of investment available?
I think our squad is still packed with numbers instead of quality, so i dont blame the owners for waiting to offload some people before signing more.
Also we're self-sustaining
If we don't spend any money, but have slashed a reported 200k a week from the wage bill...
We would have with TV deal and other factors a surplus of £70m which should pave the way for the development of Anfield.
But as we are run as a business bear in mind that due to not being in Europe the number of our games televised (for which we receive a facilities fee) would be greatly reduced also.
That move for Atsu that was reported a few months back might be on the cards? I remember reading at the time that if it was going to be made it'd be made near the end of the window
The system has a front 3 who interchange positions fluidly
Coutinho will be one of those 3 who will be central sometimes and wide others
What's with with this fixation on Courtinho playing here or there and apparent panic we are short of wide options. BR does not want 'wingers' he wants forwards to find space in the final third where thy can cause most damage. We aren't playing the type of football where we need crosses into the box all the time. Downing was bad at that as well
It's as if some people are making comments having not watched us play for the last season
If Skrtel, Coates and Assaidi leave after Downing then we will be down to 20 players, including kids like Sterling, Ibe and Wisdom.
Less than an international squad.
I don't thinks its unreasonable to expect at least two more signings.
All i'm saying is that we better not F up late on like last summer letting a lot of players go without getting in their replacements first. It would leave us starting the season with a thinner squad than last year.
Absolute, Rodgers is on the official site talking about Coutinho playing No 10 this season.
That's means 4-2-3-1, or 4-2-1-3 not 4-3-3, and he won't be playing wide much based on the managers own comments.
If the same mistakes are made this summer as they where last summer, I'll be on the ARE, Shortlight stuff!
Are the owners just trying to find the right targets or is there a lack of investment available?

To me it seems they're having trouble persuading players to join us, they need to set their sights a little lower, we have nowhere near the same amount of pull for player purchases as we used to.
I think the money's there for quality players, certainly one, maybe two. The problem they seem to be having is persuading them to come here. The only way to do that is to offer silly wages, which is what we're trying to get away from. Basically it's Catch 22....
Agree. I reckon we want to spend the money but only on quality and it's hard to convince the quality players to come to us.

Am I the only one around here who doesn't recognise a shirt number as a position?
We are in a much better position than when effectively under the ownership of RBS
Ambition...we'll we sacked a manager who won a trophy and nearly 2 because we were hungry to do better
Is it me or does someone sound like someone else!
Didi....its better than saying he'll play "in the hole"
The main thing is Courtinho will be on the pitch. Nothing else matters. We will usually I'm sure play 3 in midfield and 3 up top whatever the shirt number / formation we line up in it will be fluid
The only point been we've got enough players to not rush out to replace the mighty Downing! We won't realise he's gone....

No mate, you're not. I don't either.
Coutinho will be played in a variety of ways this year I reckon. ometimes on the left, sometimes behind the striker, sometimes as an attacking midfielder. What number does that make him?
Coutinho will drift in from the left. He's too good a player just to be threading balls through to strikers, he can get past players and jink into the area too.
So short position wise, 11 being left wing, 10 being playmaker, 10.5 seems fair.
