ARSENAL IS A FOOTBALL CLUB

People frequently say Arsenal is run as a business not a football club, but frankly if that were the case then it's a pretty poorly and short-sightedly run business, offering high wages to youngsters, reducing the quality on the pitch and not encouraging success which in turn lowers the attractiveness of the club to potential sponsors etc. So frankly I disagree with that assertion - however clearly the club is not being run very well in many aspects given the state of things.

I did not suggest that the club is well run. Quite the
contrary as a 'football club' it is poorly run.

Also there is nothing to commend if the club keeps on
growing its bank balance if there is no strategy to invest money.

The fact that the club is paying tax as Swiss Ramble
highlights when most other clubs do not is indicative
of poor tax planning.

My real concern is how Arsenal plans its transfer
business. They must have known in January what
were likely to be their requirements and they had 6
months in which to plan before transfer registration opens on 1st July.

When you have money to spend and are not dependent on making disposals first particularly when
only 2 players out of 30 fetch a transfer fee you would
have thought that the club had plenty of time to bring in new players.
