W&R

RVP and Kagawa were both in the last year of their contracts though which makes a big difference. United would have had to pay much more if they had say three years left on their contracts.

We cannot bend down to Everton. They will be forced to sell their players at the amount we bid earlier maybe with a few add ons to sweeten the deal.

We got RVP & Kagawa for less than what Everton are demanding for their duo.

Bit harsh

Doesn't matter much. Both were superstar when we signed them and most clubs in the world would love them. I doubt many would have even heard of Baines & Fellaini outside England.
Everton should know their place. They either sell to us at the amount we have offered or sell to us at a lesser amount when they handle transfer requests.

Not really harsh, his attitude is very abrasive so only fair he's treated how he would treat others.

Word is that United are prepared to offer Baines & Fellaini £120k per week each.

Everton made the bids public, yet the word is the players will get £120k?

A 5 star thread all day long. You've hit the nail on the head with just about all the points raised. Hearing Moyes go on about "holding back player's ambitions" was nothing short of embarrassing to say the least. Let's just hope his ambitious attempt at keeping us as the number 1# PL team doesn't see us fall from grace - Liverpool style!

Why would we have to sell for a lesser amount you idiot? Lescott handed in a transfer request when City offered £20m,and we ended up getting £24m.

City were fools. If Everton think they can mug us off then they are wrong. Either accept the amount we have given or run the risk of selling them at a lower price next window.

Every man and his dog claimed the bid was derisory, even one of your former coaching staff claimed it. I'm starting to wonder if Moyes really wants the players, and is just stringing you lot along. If they don't sign,he'll probably come out and say "we're not prepared to pay over the odds for players",being fully aware Everton would never have sold for £28m.

No eye for an eye is what revenge is about. I would personally put this under *treat others in the same way you would expect others to treat you*

Going by that I can only presume he wants to be treated that way?

TBF, I don't mind W&R

He does have his 'abrasive' moments, but I have never seen him resort to the name calling (apart from with Robb, which Robb more than contributes to). Moreover, at the same time he has been on the end of some borderline racism from fellow posters that would have and had led said posters to cry and moan to the admins.

Just my opinion...

posted on 25/8/13

Keeping in line with the article however...5 stars from me

Rob is like one of those dogs that no matter how many times you beat it, it comes back for more. But he does provide a good counterbalance to all the overly negative crap that fills this board.

Nb whilst I don't agree with this article I still gave it 5 stars as it provokes a decent debate.

On a serious note, people have to realise that we have a very strong squad and have made a great start.

We all accept everyone has an opinion but that doesn't make every opinion correct. There will be plenty of time for negativity (yes, even from me) if we start to lose a whole bunch of games and do a Liverpool.

But why do that now? I've played plenty of football in my life for some god awful sides all over England and i've seen the flipside of successful teams.

That's why I see a United side having won 5 titles in 7 years and having just seen us put 4 goals past a very good Swansea side and wonder just why the hell people on here act like us not signing anyone equals relegation.

Fair play to avb and spurs and how they have gone about their business in recent windows. Vertongan(spelling) dembele and their aquisitions this summer. They see a player and go for him only losing willian because of chelsea. Glazers, moyes and woodward please take note...

I'm in 2 minds personally as to WHAT has been offered for Baines and Fellaini, thus the reason I purposefully didnt really give an opinion in the article.

Truth be told though, that in the current market, 8 days before the window ends, I personally couldn't argue with Baines been worth 15, and Fellaini 20, possibly a little more for both. The key here is the timing, I am most definitely not saying either are worth that at any other time, but circumstance dictates their value will be inflated and Kenwright will do what he can to bump it up.

The issue lies with the fact that the closer we get to the end of the window, the more Everton will ask, as they will know to bring in replacements they'll have to over pay too. Vicious cycle, that we generally do well to avoid, but turns out we may well be key players in the roundabout.

It's a disappointment in a sense that most of us I'm sure expected to enjoy this window; to look at what direction the new manager was to take us in. To be excited for THAT debut of a new player. (I'll just raise the point that I'm very impressed with Zaha and expect him to be a key player for us).

Robb -

'wonder just why the hell people on here act like us not signing anyone equals relegation.'

If that's what you're taking from articles like this, then you need to re read it. I'm certainly not complaining about the team (though I could), nor our achievements (though I could, again, if I'm honest, especially in Europe, but thats by the by)

I'm merely expressing surprise and disappointment at how we've gone about business.

You surely can't be content with how we've dealt with this window??

Absolutely. Spurs had a plan, they reacted superbly to losing Bale (When it happens) and knew the fans would demand quality and swift action, and they've nailed it.

Exciting times for Spurs fans, very well run club and Levi, as much as he bent us over and plowed us with Berbatov, is a fantastic example of negotiator. (Willian was an exception to this, most likely down to Roman)

Complain about Europe! United have won the thing 3 times ffs! You do realise some great clubs have never won it, and the great sides trying to win it each year. So winning it 3 times and making another 2 finals is a fantastic achievement. But you seem to be a fan that just expects trophies, but supporting united isn't about that as the 70s and 80s showed, with the army if united fans everywhere. Many united fans enjoy and savour the success we've had, I suggest you do the same as we might do a Liverpool! Chill and enjoy watching uniteds present brilliant champion side

He is a brilliant negotiator for sure. I mean, what makes me laugh is Arsene Wenger always saying 'The first thing players want to know is if you can offer them Champions League football'. Doesn't seem to stop Tottenham from bringing in players at all.

He manages to milk everyone for their money.

Bottom line is we are days from end of window and moyes still hasnt addressed the area that most utd fans have been highlighting for the past 4 seasons and which he himself said needed strengthening back in june. UTD do have a strong squad but not a strong midfield evidenced by the fact that Ryan Giggs at 40 is still one of moyes first choices in midfield. Against swansea you may get away with that but not chelsea, city , spurs or liverpool
