Making good profits on players we don't need is bad then?
I think their opinions actually hold water on this occasion, although I don't like the way Shortlight gets his opinions across. But yes, this Summer has left me very underwhelmed.
To be fair, tottenham will soon be on +25, when they sell bale.
then with a 25 mil signing of lamela theyll be back to 0.
And if we genuinely have 35 mil for players, its going to take us to 29 mil.
Its all dependent on what you would like.
Do you want us to spend a silly amount on every player like with kenny?
there is a fine line, and should we buy a winger and a centre back combining to about 35-40 mil, taking us to 32 mil, i believe thats a fair amount based on our turnover.
If spurs sell Bale they will be on MINUS £33m!
Levy the tightarse!
I feel bad for ARE that he gets lumped in with shortlight. Much more of a reasonable person.
So selling your best players = Ambition ?
Let's sell Suarez even more profit yippeeeee.
I'd give it till the end of the window before assessing how we've fared.
Although I agree with the sentiment that if we don't bring in first team players in key areas, those being on the left, at the back and for me another defensive midfielder then there's reason to be peeved.
Especially after what the manager has said all the summer in regards to that.
We've done some things right in terms of out-goings but not enough yet incoming by any means.
We've clearly been trying to spend money on a big signing but it so far hasn't worked out. Obviously we are running out of time and may not make that big purchase but I do believe there is money to spend.
So selling your best players = Ambition ?

Where have you got this from?
Net spend means nothing! It can be twisted to suit anyone's opinions. We have a good academy and get good money for the players we do not need. People are happy when we move on the dead wood but not happy if we recoupe decent cash for them?
I'm guessing the transfer window has shut
The great pity for me is that the top four are so underwhelming, surely now is the time to be showing intent in the transfer market. How long have Man Utd had things all their own way? Now Fergies fine they a ripe for a fall. I just don't understand the concept of a zero net spend at this stage.
When FSG sacked Kenny Dalglish BR inherited a team so far removed from the way he wanted to play it was unreal, FSG have simply not spent enough fast enough since BR became manager to turn it all around. BR's face said it all the other day in the press conference can Liverpool fans not see that? Can they not see that our star players wants out because he doesn't rate out chances of getting back in the CL?
I am a fan of the club and always have been since the days of Bob Paisley, it's just I can't accept we are not challenging for the Premiership and feel we could be doing better if only FSG backed their own manager in the transfer market. We can bridge the gap but we are leaving it too late again....
The intent to compete is simply not there from the ownership and that's a crying shame.

If spent correctly it does.
We spend what we earn and what we can afford, we don't have a sugar daddy! We can't compete with billionaire owners so be a grown up and just accept it.
Bottom line is if the money is there the signing is made, we started off by putting the Mkhitaryan deal on hold and lost out to Dortmund and went on from there.
Man City didnt used to be in the CL but they persuaded players to come in nine the less....we won't get back in the top four with the current lack of spending and over realiance on kids from the Academy.

More revenue.
Lucrative income from Asian trips.
Summer expenditure = A profit.
A squad that most of you are very pleased with and then we draw after 90 mins with the mighty Notts County.
Holding on for dear life v A Villa & Stoke.
Sorry but hopes for the future ?
It's all doom & gloom !
Why do people have such short memories? In January, just a mere 8 months ago we spent £20m very well. We didn't sell anyone to buy them.
Man City looked very good v Newcastle. - Champions in my book.

Red 5. When you produce knee jerk pearls of wisdom such as this, how do you expect to be taken seriously?
A see we have a couple of new wums today actually.
I want my club to be able to compete

So going by your own logic, I assume you now have City as relegation fodder, seeing as they lost to a newly promoted side?
