No point buying squad players.

You could have said RVP was injury prone when Man Utd bought him... but it hasn't turned out that way. Just cos someone has had injuries does not make them prone

"Don't get me wrong, flamini is not a bad player but why not invest £20M plus on a genuine high quality dm rather than going for the freebie option"
============================================
Because we're Arsenal football club. We'd rather accumulate to speculate as opposed to speculate to accumulate. Been this way for years.

There's no way we're signing the quality required to push us over the edge now with 4 days of the window left. We may make signings (still dubious about whether we will myself), but they won't be near the quality we've been pretend linked to all summer.

"Just because we have cash in the bank does not mean it is all available to be spent."

We don't have to spend any of our cash. Most deals are done on credit, we will have a massive projected revenue of over £300M by the end of the financial year.

The fact we have had over £100M in the bank for over 3 years sitting their and gaining interest to the extent we are nearly at £200M makes it even more inexplicable that not only money has not been spent in the past, but is not being spent at present.

As I have already said. I have bookmarked this article. Lets see what you apologists have to say when the transfer window closes.

Flamini has a problem with his knees, he doesn't get freakish or unlucky injuries like RVP did. He has a genuine problem.

I think if you ignore my points I'm laying out then you are clearly just listening to what you want to hear and aren't interested in the truth

The fact is we have earned £80m more this year than last and now we have ~£80m to spend on transfers... this tells any sane person that we had very little money to spend in previous years

btw. "bookmarking" is unbelievably childish

I'm ignoring your 'points' because it is fabricated garbage that I am sick of smashing my head on my keyboard everytime I read it.

What is childish is you fking apologists repeating the same zombie garbage week in week out regardless of what is going on in the real world.

This article is BOOKMARKED.

I just cannot realistically see us signing the required quality in these last few days. It's too late.

If it does happen, I'll be hugely surprised.

It's just so disappointing from the club. I'll support them, obviously, but I will feel a bit betrayed, lame as it sounds.

It's clearly not fabricated garbage.

You are just immune to logic and reason my friend - you seem to run almost purely on emotion

There is currently £180M in the bank. We are due to receive even more money from our sponsors, our projected revenue at the end of the financial year is over £300M.

Yet you say our transfer budget is £70M.

Ok, I'm being illogical.

Fatmanu calling someone a zombie.

This clown batmoanu has been repeating the same garbage for over 6 months now.

Arsenal aren't in the position to be able to sign to quality required to make you title challengers.

So I think the people expecting that are unrealistic.

Money is no use if you can't get the quality that is massively improve you. United, Chelsea and City have all missed on big targets that will improve them.

Arsenal have reason to be optimist about next season because their young players are improving, and Santi is in another season. And that boy is class.

posted on 29/8/13

Yes you are being entirely illogical

*I* do not say our transfer budget is £70m - independent analysis tells us that. That factors in all this additional revenue we will have at the end of the year.

Yes of course we *could* spend more than that, we could probably have a net spend of £120m if we chose to. However that would not be running the club in a professional way and would just hinder our future transfer window budgets.

If we sign 2-3 world class players than we can challenge for the title and win it. Dont care what the naysayers say.

Darren I agree we will be stronger this year - providing we have a season as injury-free as last year, however I think that is pretty unlikely.

When we could play our first XI our team could beat anyone on its day, however even with just 2 or 3 first teamers missing we became pretty average.

If Spurs can attract players of the supposed quality of Lamela and Eriksen, then I'm sure Arsenal are more than capable of attracting players who can strengthen us

posted on 29/8/13

Eriksen isn't quality. He is just another overhyped youngster and no one wants him for a reason.

aww but he looks so good on youtube

V, I agree. Your squad really needs strengthening. And of course you can get players that will improve you. I personally don't think you will be able to close the gap.

But you do have a good team. And there's room for improvement within the team. Wenger can only build this team rather than buying loads of players to get you up there again.

Just my opinion from the outside looking in.

So did Gervinho

Yeah we definitely aren't in the position of Man City where we can just go buy a premier league winning team.

And sadly I agree we won't be competing for the title this year. But if we can add a few quality players over this and the next couple of years and the squad keeps improving at its current rate I think we'll be right back up there

So does Messi

To be honest I've written off Wenger too many times. Given a bit of money I reckon he can still build a quality team. Even though he's lost his magic.

Surely something has to happen tommorow? I mean we're into the last four days now!

Signings may not give us a genuine title challenge straight away but they'll certainly get us closer.

posted on 30/8/13

Right now you are at the stage where you need to spend £40m just to stay in the top 4.
