Spain football writer Andy West: "Manchester United appear to have spent their entire summer unsuccessfully bidding for midfielders from La Liga, but they could finally strike lucky today with Athletic Bilbao's Ander Herrera.

"United have already seen a bid of €30m rejected, but Herrera's release clause is €36m so the Red Devils only need to increase their offer to that amount and Athletic would be powerless to prevent him from leaving.

"Herrera was left out of Sunday's game at Real Madrid and after the game Athletic manager Ernesto Valverde could only offer tentative reassurance to his team's fans, saying: "I do not know what will happen but I want Ander to stay with us, and that is what I expect."

I used to love Herrera on FIFA games, particularly 12. He's such a good little player. I hope United don't wreck him.
