Wenger should absolutely NOT get a new contract, until he has proved this team has improved from last year.
Yes he done well getting Ozil.
Should he have got a striker? Yes, absolutely. That is a failure on his part.
We'll see. I am optimistic, but not convinced yet.

Not his fault other members of our team messed up the Suarez deal. We were unlucky to not get a world class striker in. The board will offer him another contract whether people like or not. Question is when it will happen. The team will improve and Wenger has earnt it.
Agree with Chris. Just because AW spent about a third of the budget afforded to him does not mean the mistakes and errors of judgement over the last number of years go away.
He has certainly "bought" (pardon the pun) himself some time however there are still questions that need answered.
Ozil is a fantastic signing, the amount of assists he will get for Giroud and Walcott will be massive. They should really be aiming for forty goals between the two of them at least. I agree with many people when they say that Ozil, despite his massive price-tag, is a bargain.
I think he's earn't a new 4-5 year deal tbh. He's done what he said he would and brought in quality not quantity
Good article but yes I agree with Chris to an extent.
Wenger does need to up his game now and I also doubt we will get anyone world class in Jan as most will be cup tied.
Only time will tell but I for one cannot wait for this weekend.

I'm most interested to see when we get money for the new sponsorship deals that have given us the money for the Ozil deal. If it turns out we received the money this year and we have made a 30m profit i will be 'little bit' annoyed. But i suspect the the money will be received next season and that Wenger has jumped the gun to appease the fans. We will probably make a 30m loss after player sales this season.
Wenger is world-class, no fan is allowed to doubt him now, we will become an unstoppable team within the next 2-3 years
I am over the moon with Özil as we all are but let's finish the season first.
The way we bought Özil and the way we act in the whole transfer period leave me with a few doubts.
Ozil: "From our negotiations it is clear the club has huge ambition and I look forward to being part of an exciting future."
If what he says is true and Wenger has not been lying to him this really excites me. It means we will definitely be strengthening the squad in the next few years and bringing in quality players.
This could also mean that all the frugality of Arsenal in the past few years will finally pay off and we will be in the strongest position when FFP kicks in. We could turn into one of the biggest clubs in world football.
We could turn into one of the biggest clubs in world football.
We are already a big club.
It goes without saying but I'll say it anyway. Many Arsenal players have gone on record in the past stating the common practice of inserting caveats in their contracts contingent on Wenger staying on as the gaffer. Most recently, Wilshere rather bluntly made this same admission to the press.
If what he says is true and Wenger has not been lying to him this really excites me.
-----------------------------------------------
There is no chance Wenger would lie to a player, he told Gustavo that he couldn't guarantee him a starting place and that's why he went to Wolfsburg.
It is laughable that some of our pathetic fans wanted the likes of Laudrop.
Agree completley Respected I was saying this last night and Kamran agreed with me but I got a bit of grief for saying I'd seen some Arsenal fans say disgraceful things about a man who has done so much for your club and these fans don't deserve to then be backing Wenger as he signed a quality player.
No I don't agree that Wenger is the greatest manager ever or that he will be but each to their own.

Oh and Suarez > Ozil
Anybody with so much as an ounce of football knowledge around the world consider AW as a genius. In 2010 he was voted manager of the decade, even though he hadn't won a trophy for 5years at that point.
Even rival fans consider him to be s(h)it-hot, regardless of the banter. (How many times have the whiney young Arsenal fans been told that the grass isn't greener when they were calling for his head??)
Since the Kroenke takeover, he is the reason Arsenal have kept their head above the water, despite the financial obstacles the board have put in our path.
Why not wait and see how we play when inserting Ozil in, wait till the January transfer window, wait till the whole year performance, and the next summer transfer window and then decide?
Just one Ozil transfer we are now the true contender, and the management is amazing again?
Wenger bought his time again, and let's see how things go. Let's enjoy the transfer at this moment and looking forward to a good season.
Wenger's ability to attract players is crucial, just listen to Özil's comments if you don't believe me. Very few other managers have that same aura for players, and virtually none of them would be realistic options should Wenger leave.
I've always been slightly on the fence with Wenger, as his stubbornness and limitations have definitely cost us over the last few years, but he's also overseen a crucial change in this club without its stature dropping much in the eyes of players. The key factor for me is the lack of credible alternatives, which has also been the case for the last 18 months. For all his limitations, I don't think there's one manager we could get who would do a better job.
