Considering nobody knew about Ozil's transfer until the day before deadline day, is your comment at all relevant?

In answer to OP's question - it certainly can't hurt. I'm sure most strikers would like to play ahead of Cazorla, Walcott and Ozil.

This trophy thing is a complete red herring invented for the fans. Money is always the key. And the implication of that is a club willing to 'challenge for a trophy'.

If a player wants to become a legend he will want to EARN a trophy. Not go to a club where it is guaranteed.

Look at Cesc. Who in the world thinks that Barca won't be winning trophies if Cesc was not there? Thats why Cesc is given no credit for what Barca do. This is why Ozil left because he felt he was not wanted by Madrid. Whereas at Arsenal he will be a central component of a team building to challenge for trophies. Real Madrid will learn something that their players know already that they made a mistake by not appreciating Ozil enough.

A club that is ambitious will spend money and grow its youngsters into a team that wins trophies. But actually winning trophies is down to the players themselves. Ozil is not coming to sit on the bench.

Do you really believe the transfer was that much "off the cuff"?

Never in a million. All the deals pending Bale's transfer were all set up weeks ago, which is why Wenger was so coy about it all in interviews.

He knew Ozil was coming and he could have mentioned the marquee signing when trying to tempt other signings. The fact is, all the other marquee signings (as RGK will back me up on) píssed off elsewhere, or were refused a move.

So Arsenal never ever wanted Suarez, despite offering about 4 bids, one of which made them a laughing stock?

we made 2. If a players says he has a release clause why would arsenal not believe him?

Convincing players was never a problem. Wenger has that authority in Europe. He is demonized and laughed at by other club fans and the media but not in footballing circles. Suarez, Gustavo, Higuain, Rooney were all desperate to join us. But we either backed off or their clubs kept them against their wishes. So you are wrong to suggest the players p/ssed of elsewhere. We dropped interest.

Chicken, you are talking rubbish mate.

No chance of Wenger being able to say to potential transfer targets about Ozil coming.

Course they were fella, hence all the transfer requests....

Fellaini wanted to leave Everton? How do we know that for sure? Yep, because he filed a transfer request.

As for all these players queuing up to join Arsenal, how many transfer requests were put in out of:

Suarez
Gustavo
Higuain
Rooney

A grand total of NONE....

He didnt have to name him by name. Just that there was a big signing on his way. And if they trusted Wenger, they would have listened to him.

The Ozil transfer wasn't particularly a surprise to anyone was it?

The only "rubbish" on this article is the fact Arsenal fans believe another load of £42m transfers are on their way following the signing of Ozil.

Ozil is a good signing but i've never heard so much cráp.

It looks more like those players simply did not want to join (hence no transfer requests)

Rex,

Chicken you bell sniff did Ozil hand in a transfer request? No

==============

No, because his transfer was agreed by both clubs.

What a plank.

If the players were serious, they would have asked for a transfer request when AW bid for them.

They didnt.
