Yeah, no denying those guys were dissapointing in the series. Bit different to when you win a series 3-0 rather than being whitewashed 4-0.

Got to say the BCCI are brave making it a five test series next year

I'd be most happy if england beat india 5-0 in the 2014 series.
But the fact is fact.
Kohli is already aged merely 24, is by far greater ODI batsman than any from the entire history of english cricket.
And all the signs are there he'll be a huge success at test level too.
If you say Kohli is a trash of a batsman, then I am sorry, Root and bairstow must be the trashiest of young batsmen.

Kholi is a cracking player.

Whilst I agree than Kohli is a cracking player, he has little to no experience of first class cricket in English conditions, let alone Test cricket.

Whilst he may be a success next summer, there is just as much chance that he will struggle in his first Test series in English conditions against the swinging and seaming Duke's ball, especially against one of the greatest exponents of swing bowling in Anderson.

I would expect Englend to beat India in a home series.

He's played around 18 tests.

Not a great number, but still a fair bit of experience.
Agree that he hasn't had much experience in English conditions but that's not the be all and end all of cricket

It's not just Kohli is it. Players like Pujara, Dhawan, Vijay, Jadeja have not played in England. Dhoni struggled big time last time and England will revert to bowler friendly tracks when India come.

Will be interesting to see how the Indian fair in RSA later this year.

Think it will be closer that the last your here (which really isn't saying much as we got pummelled)

But I feel, with less expectations, and probably a cautious approach.. Add to that the reliance on certain superstars.. I think it will be closer. India seem to be playing more as a unit.
The fielding is top, which is not something I thought I would ever say.

We have a sniff of winning, but England will be favourites.

I agree that India's fielding is now top notch. The new generation of Indian cricketers seem to be much more athletic, which I think is mainly due to the IPL format.

I just think that Indian batsmen tend to struggle against the red ball in English conditions due to their tendency to play out in front of the pad rather than playing it late. They don't have trouble against pace and bounce but the swinging ball presents problems. Juwst as England always seem to struggle on the sub-continent.

Players like Dravid and Tendulkar did manage to adapt their techniques and were largely successful in England, but both probably benefited from spending time playing for Kent and Yorkshire respectively. I'm not sure you see many Indian players playing county cricket as overseas players which is a shame.

It will be interesting to see how this new crop of players adapt their game. I think that test series will be a real test for them, but if they are up to it, hopefully it will be a cracker.

Hoping so too.

I understand England fans were happy watching England batter India.

But it really wasn't interesting at all...

It is nice to annihilate teams every so often, but test cricket is the best sport to watch when it is closely contested by two evenly matched teams.

Any chance f the game restarting? I'm at the prince of Wales, drunk as a fart waiting for play to resume

Greedy Edgbaston will have to pay all those punters £80 back. They were charging £35 for restricted view

Nice to see Root continuing where he left off - Mr Consistency

Id be controversial here.I think England should drop Root for the Ashes away.. He will comeback a better player next summer. At the moment hes been found out.. hes not even playing any shots.. Take yesterdays dismissal he came down the track to the spinner instead of defending softly he thrust the bat out and the ball carried back to the bowler.
id go back to Compton for the ashes away series..
I think Root is good and will come good,, But a bad series in Australia and it will take a bit of coming back from.

Anyway the moment the weather for Cardiff on Saturday is looking better.Englands batting needs to improve 80% frm what it has been of late.. The batsmen need to get more runs.
And be interested to see how they go with the bowling.. 3 seamers and one of them stokes? hmmm doesn't look good does it?..
