Sakho

You've basically summed Sahko up in a nutshell.

Supreme athlete, very strong, fast - but he needs to work on the footballing side of his game. He's a mentalist, the amount of times he'll abandon his position in a defensive unit to needlessly try and win the ball is unreal.

Chris have you seen him play much?

No just watched 2 minute youtube video this morning.

Only joking, yeah seen him quite a bit, particuarly last season for PSG and France. Decent player, and once/if he gets his head right he will be a top, top defender.

Good to know Chris. Where do you see arsenal finishing this season?

3. He looked a bit uncomfortable with the ball at his feet.

That is incorrect. He surprised me as to how assured he was with the ball. He is a ball playing centre half and has some skill too.

He was caught out of position a couple of times but it was a good debut, especially at short notice like that.

Chris H

Agree with those comments, Sakho is the type of player that we are looking for. The type who for the right price we can develop a top player from. Plenty of work to do there from what I saw but also allow from the fact when you rearrange the back four like we did last night it creates its own problems. Add that to Sakho making his debut in the Premiership and I thought he didn't so too bad.

Very good in the air which we knew, but also very good in the tackle.

Red I just felt he looked awkward in possession, hower that could be his deceptive stature.

ARE that's what I was hoping people would say. You're right the back four was not settled at all. I'm not saying he was awful or anything, i just noticed a few things which I hope are as a result of lack of playing time rather than fundamental flaws

Depends on Giroud staying fit. If he gets a long term injury, which can happen to anyone, we will struggle big time I think. But if he can stay relatively fit then I don't see why we can't challenge the top of the table - probably 2nd/3rd.

Flamini the answer in the middle for you? ( defensive mid)

Sakho played the ball well out of defence too.

We were under constant pressure in the second half, and he did well.

Both Wisdom in at RB and Sakho coming in at centre back, unsettled us a little bit.

Shout out for mignolet, he made a cracking save from the free kick Swansea had late on.

Top top keeper.

Flamini is definitely a better signing than most give credit for. Not just the fact that he is a decent DM, but he's a leader too. You can see that after the Sunderland penalty where we were rocking, he kept us solid, was a right little colonel at the back with how he kept us organised.

Not only that, Ramsey is finally finding the form we all hoped he hadn't lost after his leg break. Really pleased with our midfield these days.

95% pass completion says different. he stepped up poorly once and skrrel failed to move when he did which left the space open

posted on 17/9/13

Dont care if you think he looks awkward on tbe ball his pass completion stats were much higher than silvas, hes very good on the ball.

He's certainly not a long ball merchant. He laid it off to the nearest player most times and sometimes it was too close to a Swansea player. I'm sure he will get better with games.

Won 10/10 headers

The good thing about Sakho was that he didn't hoof the ball once.
The bad thing about Sakho was that he didn't hoof the ball once.

What does that mean

I liked his skill passing

posted on 17/9/13

Yes scoregasam!! He needs to learn when to do these things!!

The only aspect I agree with a little was point 1, however when he did dive he won the ball.

Suso is spot on in that Skrtel did not back him up when he left space but he will learn from this experience. It wasn't a spectacular debut but all in all I think he performed well.

We looked so assured in defending set pieces which was very positive.

95% pass completion and 10/10 headers when Swansea were camped in our half for 35 mins of the second half shows he had a very good game.

Midfield let us down and couldn't control the pace of the game.

I have only last nights game to go on when judging Sakho but I find that I completely disagree with the OP especially point number 3 is one I cannot comrehend. Seemed very very comfortable and confident on the ball. I was seriously impressed and I think BR has pulled off a master stroke with this one. We really needed that physicality and aggression and looks like we'll get it.

He needs time to settle down and tuck in though.

OP, have to disagree with you.

1. He seemed very quick to dive in and go to ground to make the tackle. Yep, he made the tackle each time too.

2. Whilst he is tall and wins headers, he would sometimes head the ball intro dangerous positions. Yep, he won every (I think?) header. Not a problem.

3. He looked a bit uncomfortable with the ball at his feet. What??? Looked very comfortable on the ball to me.

posted on 17/9/13

i thought it was a classic french lesser league type debut... bags of talent, very cocky but dangerous as F.

He did head it down a few times rather than up and away and he did mess about a bit.... but he showed a lot of talent and importantly desire to get in there.... coates take note for your next club cos you are out.

I agree with red in the head. the midfield looked flat and on their heels form the start. gerrard ball watched and let shelvey a free run for the second goal and lucas looked tired for some reason. it was not just swansea game they just looked bad.
