Don't the best players in the world need time to acclimatise themselves to a new country or a league?
--------------------
That's exactly what everyone was saying to you yesterday. That Ozil can't be the best player in the league yet because he's done nothing in it, despite the undoubted talent, and you disagreed.
Yep I called it as soon as I saw him play.
Technical midget with good tekkers but not even close to santi
"That's exactly what everyone was saying to you yesterday. That Ozil can't be the best player in the league yet because he's done nothing in it, despite the undoubted talent, and you disagreed."
I think Ozil is the best player simply because he has the most ability, is the most talented and has been more productive in recent than anyone in the Prem has been.
Not hard to grasp that. He's the second best playmaker in the world after Iniesta.
If Iniesta waltzed into the Prem no one would say anything if I said he's the best. Same with Messi, or Ibrahimovic for example.
Just pure jealousy from these other guys. Along with ignorance & arrogance of course.
So he's the most talented player but not the best player. If only you articulated that yesterday you wouldn't have so many people disagreeing with you.
Do you struggle with English?
He's the most talented, possesses the most ability and has been more productive than anyone else here.
What does that mean?
Best player in the Prem.
As I said, you're just jealous you've never had anyone near as good as Ozil.
I don't know about him being the best player or even the most talented. RVP, Rooney, Suarez, Aguero and the like are all top players too. And they are very different type of players to be comparing their qualities or talent. Many of us may have just gotten a little too carried away with Ozil.
FatJanMolby - so who is better than Ozil in his position then in the PL?
As I said, you're just jealous you've never had anyone near as good as Ozil.
----------------------------------------------
You think 5-time champions of Europe have never had anyone "near as good" as Ozil? Really?
We didn't really have as much of the ball as we usually do, what he had of it he did well e.g back heel to gibbs. One small criticism i do have of him is that he's a little shy to shoot when he's in a good position. Thought he was decent tho, harsh article.

Genuinely one of the worst articles I've ever read. He wasn't great today, but he was by no means one of the worst players on the pitch. Not even close.
''OP, you're about to get slaughtered mate''
Maybe because it is a rubbish article?
If Ozil never signed for Arsenal you'd most probably agree with me as well.
Each to their own though.

Nobody said anything about the best in his position. He said best player. I would argue that RVP, Suarez, Cazorla, Yaya and Mata are the best players in the league based on last season. Ozil is undoubtedly world class but how can he be classed as best player in the league already as dubbed as done. One of most talented? Yes without doubt. The best in the league? Not yet. Possibly and probably will become it, but you can't say that he is already after a game.

So if Messi or Ronaldo came here now, would you still be using that same warped logic?

Dubbed, why don't you get it? Just admit that you'rr confusing talent with being the current best and we can move on. Ozil is undoubtedly world class but he is not the best player in the league just because he has talent. He needs to prove it in this league. There are other world class players in this league, and they have proven it in the league. Ozil doesn't just walk in and become the best player in the league
"You've obviously never seen many Liverpool greats play when they ruled England and Europe so it's best not to make comments suggesting they've never had a player as good as Ozil."
You're quite clearly referring to the 1950's and whatnot. Very strange.
Has anyone seen any of the Man U greats when they look at Ronaldo?
More importantly one has to look at how football has progressed along from those dark days.
"And Ozil isn't better than a prime Gerrard by ant stretch. And Ozil isn't better than a prime Gerrard by ant stretch."
Yes he is. I'd say he's easily better than him. I look past the Hollywood moments and that Champions League win. Great achievement, but it doesn't add to your ability.
"Dubbed, why don't you get it? Just admit that you'rr confusing talent with being the current best and we can move on."
Why are you still holding on to that? Didn't I make it clear why I think Ozil's the best player in the Prem.
I was kinda jesting when I said 'do you struggle with English', but there may be some truth to that.

You didn't answer my question earlier. If Iniesta comes to the Prem now, would he be the best player here?

I'm referring to the 80's. I'm only using your own words when you said Liverpool have never had a player as good as Ozil. Picture yourself as a Liverpool fan and you'd consider that a laughable statement.
Dubbed, you really are foolish aren't you mate? I thought you'd just had a mare yesterday with the Sturridge article when even your own fans were saying you were talking nonsense. But it turns out its the norm.
So Ozil is better than Kenny, Barnes, Gerrard? On what basis exactly?
Yes he is. I'd say he's easily better than him. I look past the Hollywood moments and that Champions League win. Great achievement, but it doesn't add to your ability.
-----------------------------------------------------
Why would I look past the "Hollywood moments". They show a great player who can seize the moment when his team needs him most. Ozil doesn't do that. At his prime, Gerrard was an all-action who could get you 20 goals a season. That demands respect. You can't conveniently highlight one player's strengths while downgrading or ignoring the strengths of another player. Ozil isn't better than a prime Gerrard.

Not really. They played pedestrian football there. Football has come a long way. The fact that the hoof ball style of English sides such as Liverpool dominated Europe says it all.
A lot of the player from that era, in particular the English one wouldn't be anywhere near the top foreign guys.

Liverpool were one of the best passing sides in Europe at the time and dominated European football - including the johnny foreigners you rate so highly. Why can't you just refrain from commenting on football that you clearly never watched?

Is this FatJan guy the one you were calling an "idiot" yesterday? Seems a very apt description.
The fact that it took him a long while for him to understand my earlier point confirms it too.

I never even went into detail about their strengths or weaknesses so I don't even where you got the highlight bit.
Funny how you mentioned the 20 goals a season? And? What's your point?
Plenty of players score goals. In fact, I'd even say goals ain't even his priority but rather papers over the cracks.
He had nowhere near the assists or as high a quality general play one would expect from a player of his ability. No point listing down stats really to prove a point as it doesn't.
