Will be an interesting game for the neutral (I say neutral, I'd probably just about rather you guys win it).
Spurs can send out a big statement not with just a win, but a big performance. If it's 0-0 at 70 minutes, will AVB go hell for leather for a win, or will he be quietly content with a point?
Chris H
I think Spurs will go out to win from the start, and with a lot of vibrant young players will be too much for Chelsea. I may be wrong, but the current Spurs team looks more united than the current Chelsea one, who in the next few yers will have to relace Lampard, Terry and Cole.
Big test as Chris says....as much mentally as too see how good the new players are.....
Time and again spurs go into these games on a good run....talk of challenging and what not......then....
FOLD.
Anything other than a win is going to be hugely disappointing.
I'm not sure I've seen anyone mentioning last season's match but regardless you are correct Sandy. Spurs have far more strength in depth than last season and Chelsea look like a different animal under Mourinho. Personally I think you guys will just edge it (we aren't playing that great at the moment and have a lot of work still to do whereas Spurs look very impressive) but I don't think it will have a massive reflection on the two team's final positions as there is still so much football to be played. All the best guys and may the best team win

Not exactly true, Spurs beat United, City, Arsenal, Liverpool and drew at Chelsea last season. Last season`s game with Chelsea at WHL was with a makeshift team, no Bale, Dembele, Lloris, etc. agaisnt a full strength Chelsea.
Somebody that you used to know
Good post, and as you say, it is still only early in the season, so regardless of the result, the season has not even warmed up yet, but having said that I would not want Spurs losing at home.
You can say what you like about Sandy, but you can't doubt his optimism

I would hardly say I am being optimistic about expecting to win a home game, or have I got that wrong. I assume all football fans expect that as a mimimum.
Yeah, definitely optimistic.
As good as you think you are now (and I'm not disagreeing), you can't "expect" to win any game against Chelsea, home or away. They have too many quality players to call it a safe bet.
That being said, I do think you'll win. But it's far from a banker
Last season is relevant because tactically AVB got it all wrong
He picked that particular XI from the players available - all pace down one side, not a natural LB and a right-footed LM on the other.
Played Dempsey too.
All in all left us narrow, occupying central areas, the very area Chelsea were strongest in. Played right in to their hands - fought fire with a box of matches
Yeah sandy we won those games....but still didn't get to where we wanted.....
It's fact wen its on top....spurs most often crumble...
The good news is that Mata is out of favour, he was the difference at WHL last season!
Bad news now....
Torres is out
Big part of that though is down to how good Oscar is looking. Hard to believe he is only just turned 22. Quality player.
Don`t you think we are spending too much time worry about the opposition. I suggest you let Chelsea do the worrying for a change.
I'm with sandy here. Chelsea are still a quality side that always will be tough especially being a London derby but it's Chelsea who should be fearing us more than us fearing them. We are currently in fantastic form at the moment playing brilliantly whilst Chelsea have been playing pretty poorly. We are at home aswell and our home record against Chelsea in recent years is actually pretty good. It's not a spurs win banker but I am certainly not expecting Chelsea to beat us and would be extremely annoyed if we lost tommorow. 2-1 Spurs or 2-2.
Don
Despite our good start, there still seems to be far too much negativity about the team. At what point do we stop keep going on about how good the opposition are in every game, and just concentrate on what a great team and squad we have now. Thankfully I reckon the team and AVB are a lot more positive.
Sandy
I agree with you regarding home performances and with the squad you have now, there is no reason that you should not be expecting to win all your home games (I mean, you beat City, Arsenal, Liverpool and drew with United at home last season). Must confess that I am very worried about tomorrow's match the way we are playing at the moment and would take the draw now.
sandy
didn't you predict a comfortable Spurs win for that lineup in this fixture last season
Sandy, I agree and i see no reason to be negative tommorow. Infact I am as confident as I have been for ages facing Chelsea. We generally have quality all over now and our defensive record so far this season is outstanding. Before we have to rely on Bales brilliance but now we have a whole squad of excellent players hungry to get into the team.
On the way to the game last season I was sat at the train station, checked my phone to see team news to learn that Bale and Dembele were both out Bales missus giving birth to Alba Violet Bale
At that point I thought anything better than a defeat would be a bonus, CFC were flying at the time dropped just 2 points from 7 games....typically we got back in to the game and actually took the lead early second half only to collapse, 4-2
It's the hope that kills me. I would have preferred to have lost 2-0.
As an "honest" Chelsea fan, I definitely feel more trepidation going into tomorrow's game than I have for a while when we've gone to the Lane.
Spurs are definitely a stronger team than last season, and I think the loss of Bale, whilst at first glance looking bad, will ultimately make them a better team. No more reliance on a single player, and playing a style of football to suit.
With Chelsea's recent form being what it is, I think the best we can hope for is a draw tomorrow; perhaps a 2-2 or something. Whatever happens though, it should be a great game
Anyone who is overly confident about tomorrow needs their head shaking.
We've had a good start, have lost to the only good side we've faced, and beaten the rest.
Chelsea have had a decent start, have taken just 1pt from the two good sides they have faced, and beaten he rest.
We are just 2pts above them.
All of this over confidence just sets you up for a fall. It was the same v Arsenal. People getting too cocky.
It's not negative to entertain the idea that a side with Mourinho in charge, and players such Eto'o, Hazard, Oscar and Mata to call on among others, are a dangerous prospect.
