Soldado Second Half

I think he just needs a goal mate. Eriksen and Soldado's brilliant hold up play were the reason why Sigurdsson scored and Soldado was excellent 1st half. The whole team were poor 2nd half apart from Dembele.

That's what I'm saying though. He's fine when we're on the front foot and he has the likes of Erikson, Sigurdsson, etc, close by, but I just can't see him ever performing the needed role of holding up play when we need to relieve pressure. Not strong enough aerially to deal with high balls up to him, and not really quick enough to work the channels effectively. Won't be a problem against most sides, but could be a major problem against the other top four contenders.

why did Defoe not start after his midweek heroics?

click I think everyone knows you're a chelsea fan on here

OK, been thinking about this for a week or so and don't really care if I take abuse for it.

So far there this season, there has been absolutely no significant evidence that Soldado is better than Defoe. In fact, Defoe has been better than the Soldier.

This might change, but to continue to be in denial about it is becoming silly.

And yes, his price tag now looks a bit ridiculous.

Mrchelsea - have u recovered from your lucky escape. Imagine if had been sent off rightly earlier in the game

Watching your players and fans celebrate a draw was great

boyp[lays 8/9 games in a new league/country and he struggles....

yep....scrap heap time for you mate.....

he's got gr8 movement....in and around....so no...if we under the pump...he's not gonna run the channels for an outlet....

which is making marginalising ade all the more daft....

One bad half of football, and Soldado is all of a sudden no good

How many times second half did our midfield play a good pass into his feet or into a channel for him? Not many.

Soldado relies on service and his game is all about finishing chances, that is why he was bought to score goals.

_______

So you formulate your opinions on players based on 5/6 games? Well in that case sturridge and giroud are clearly better than RVP

Nope. No-one said that. Try to read.

You want to argue that Soldado has been better than Defoe this season?

posted on 28/9/13

MR....cant really say....I didn't see it....but from what I followed on bbc...SSN...

sounds about right.....

junction you looked very dangerous 1st half.

posted on 28/9/13

just need that 2nd to go in mate....especially against the top sides...

MUST make the most of being on top.....you were always gonna have a spell in the game....

but coming back from 2 down is hard for any side....

Soldado needs to step up, end of story. Needs to produce

"It was difficult for the referee to judge," Villas-Boas said. "I don't think Fernando went in nasty to deserve a sending off. The referee decided both players went in in an aggressive way, but it was probably an unfair sending off."

AVB still sucking up to Chelsea then...

Defoe always starts the season well and always fades as the season goes on.

Whilst he hasn't been scoring Soldado has been good with clever movement and link up play. He needs more time to gel with the team, putting him on the bench isn't going to help this.

So Soldado starts for me

If you ever followed Soldado in La Liga, you wouldn't be surprised. He's never been the best of link-up players, a reason the Spanish coach never really liked him and would rather play Torres, Negredo, Fabregas, Silva or Pedro in the striking role ahead of him.
