I wasn't Gervinho's biggest fan but I always believed he wasn't the atrocious, non-footballer, waste of space many Arsenal fans were making him out to be. I still believe that considering we bought no replacement, we should have kept him and he'd have been a valuable squad option who could be deployed across the frontline.
All said, he just never really won the fans over. Just too frustrating to watch.
forlan was a disappointment but at the same time the quality between his league and the epl were humongous. If loan deals were as popular as they are now he could of been class
I hate it when that happens sheriff. You know a player can score a hatrick on his day but for whatever reason fails to do so.
Sahin at Madrid/Liverpool
at Madrid it was always going to be hard for him analog competing with ozil but at Liverpool Rodgers was a dim wited idiot playing shelvey ahead of sahin lol
He didn't compete with ozil, he competed with alonso/khedira. When he did play for pool he was disappointing too. Strange, when he's at his best he's a classy player
Shevchenko at Chelsea, Robinho at City, Pato at Milan, Baptista at Arsenal, Kanoute for us..
Veron, Shevchenko, Pizarro
Arshavin. Wish he could have carried his first season form in each of the remainder of his arsenal career.
Very talented player, but had poor work ethic and attitude, combined with Arsenal playing him out of position a lot.
Oh Gervinho.... No, I am not sorry he has gone, no matter what. He had a fair share of chances, more so than a few others with us, and he basically didn't take them. Everybody could see that he had some qualities but his overall contribution was just not good enough. Overcomplicated, poor decision making, lack of confidence and technique in front of goal, are some of his biggest flaws.
And that hair style! I could never get used to it. It kind of fascinated me. Why would anyone want to have such a horrible hair style? I still remember someone on these boards said he 'looked like a tarantula guarding a coconut from other, equally shadowy tropical creatures';.
But I wish him good luck nevertheless; he tried but he failed.
This season for me it's Soldado at Tottenham. Has been well short of matching the eye watering £28M figure that was paid for him.
To early to call players this season, especially new players. As for Gervinho, the man was a catalogue of errors - terrible touch, poor shot, and mindless dribbling. That miss at Bradford sums it all up, and I can remember two occasions when he dribbled the ball out of play under absolutely no pressure at all. He worked pretty hard and normally tracked back, but he was simply awful as a footballer.
gerv - has scored 3 already at Roma, plus they are top of the league! Just wasn't right for us!
Gervinho has some qualities but he doesn't have a football brain. Never made the right decision. Having said that, if only Walcott could pass players the same way Gervinho does, he would be a fecckin lethal weapon
Sometimes it didnt work for a player in one team. That happen for Chamakh as well.
After all said and done, he was our best dribbler, The way he passes players with speed is what we all expected Theo to be. Yes but He Gervinho fall to keep his place after so many chances.
Just proves how easy Seria A is. No wounder Lemela score a few last season.
Gervinho started off really well for us in case you are all forgetting. I initially thought we should have kept him simply for squad depth but would he have scored Gnabry's goal on Saturday? Not a hope.

Soldado is a good player, whether he becomes a great player for us who knows. However you cannot judge a player after only half a dozen games, it is even more ridiculous when you consider the fact those players around him are also new! Think before you post.................................................

But isn't that exactly what this article is doing? Calling Gervinho a success after a handful of games at Roma is the same as calling Soldado crap after the same amount for Spurs...
Don't be all upset that someone doesn't rate one of your players. It happens.
Hmmmm...........nothing to do with the fact he is an Arsenal supporter then?
