Well he did. Vertoghen wasn't touched, he wanted down clutching his face and got Torres sent off. Simple case of cheating.

Watch it back mate, Torres holds his face, as does Verts as he landed on that side of his body, sits up, rubs his face and get's on with it

We could talk about Arsenal cheating

Pires, Viera, Eduardo, Cazorla if you want?

Maureen has got to be the most miserable manager on the planet. His facial expression before, during and after the same was so depressing. Surely he shgould be smiling now he is at a club that 'loves' him?

You could, but that doesn't distract from the fact that Vertonghen went down after no challenge on him. That's called cheating.

Serial making a fool of himself again.

Won't debate with you as your club is as guilty as most for diving and play acting

There was contact, the intent was there, the ref considered the challenge worthy of a 2nd yellow as the force of Torres jump into Vertonghen sent him to the floor with force

If anything Torres held his head on the floor,

Stones = glass houses mate

You are kidding right? After players like Bale, Defoe, Townsend and Vertonghen, you're going to give me a lecture on diving??

For someone who plays a lot of football, i didn't expect this comment from you Foxy. Torres was looking at the ball and looking to jump up for the header. It's a naturally reaction of a player to raise his arms up when leaping for the ball.

I've been booked for flying into a tacking and not making contact, the ref always tells me it's for 'intent'!

Winds me up, but it happens

posted on 30/9/13

It happens, but it's not "intent". Torres didn't raise his hands up to smack Vertonghen's head. He did it to get to the ball before Vertonghen.

However, Vertonghen went down with the intent of conning the ref to get Torres sent off.

I missed the game on Saturday as i was at a wedding all day and when i picked up my morning paper on Sunday and saw Mourinho had accused Vertonghen of cheating i felt slight embarrassment that he would do that.

Then, however, i sat down to watch MOTD2 last night and i witnessed Torres, not only raising his hands, but scratching the face of Vertonghen which should have been an instant red (and had that been Saurez we would all be calling for a lengthy ban).

I then watched on to the incident in question (questionned by Mourinho that is) and all i saw was 2 players coliding, with Torres trying to jump into Vertonghen. Both players simply tumbled to the floor and the ref clearly thought Torres (as did i) deliberately tried to jump into Vertonghen.

Fortunately no players were hurt in the collision but Torres' intent was clear and he had to recieve another yellow.

But as we know, Torres should not have even been on the pitch at that time anyway.

I don't think Torres can have any complaints - he jumped into the player with his arms raised.

Was he making a genuine attempt for the ball?

Having scratched the player's face earlier in the game, I'd suggest there's a reasonable chance that he knew exactly what he was doing.

This is a fair point. Torres should have been sent off for the bítch scratch. However, i disagree on the aerial challenge.

Do you think before you type, Serial?

Both players went down in similar fashion, Vertonghen immediately sat up and held his head for a few seconds. Big deal, it happens every game. If that's your opinion, then Torres was also trying to get Vertonghen booked.

Agreed, the intent was there to jump into Verts, that's more than anything the reason for the 2nd yellow, it's basic stuff

What a stupid comment. Not even worth answering.

Torres led with his arm, we've seen players go down worse and roll around, dive, play act, it's a part of the game I hate! and I wish it never exsisted

But Jose to come out and say what he did just shows himself up for a massive fool.
