AVB should play Brad, Naughton, Kab, Vlad, Fryers, Lamela, Holtby, Sandro, Chadli, Kane, Defoe
Complacency and arrogance will see you get beaten or knocked out by so called inferior teams. especially in Europe. AVB is right to take it seriously.
West Ham won't make it easy for us, they will give it a go and its another derby. We should have enough in the tank to beat them.
Would like to see Lamela get a good 60 mins or so tonight.

is this actually true though? that may apply if this was a knockout game.
its a group game, in which we are the strongest team by far. no need to risk players away from home in facking Siberia or wherever this game is.

The game is just outside Moscow! Which is only just under 3 hours flying time, not too arduous really!

meh. the players will arrive back in London tonight at about 2am, probably home by 3am or 4am. messes up sleeping patterns even if jetlag isn't an issue.
unnecessary.
Verts and Paulinho stayed home
Doubt he'll put a strong squad out anyway.
Good to see him taking it seriously to be fair.
Travelling first class and staying in top draw hotels is hardly going to be a drain on the squad
Keeping Verts and Paulinho at home is key, hope Eriksen and other first teamers fit
This game is made for Vlad to start, and pick up MOTM!

we could play our second string until the knockouts and still go through.
as I said.. stupidly played danny rose in the first game. he got injured. in comes naughton, looked terrible, we drop points.
not saying that if rose played we would have won, because i actually dont rate rose much, but it was just an unnecessary shake up to have to make to the defence.
"Travelling first class and staying in top draw hotels is hardly going to be a drain on the squad"
And they get a bit of cultural sightseeing in Moscow.
Rather that than the Defoe page 3 antics that the idle periods seem to brew for certain players.
it wouldn't be idle. they would be training
"it wouldn't be idle. they would be training"
They don't train 9 to 5, do they.
I'm able to play twice a week and train two days a week

Get on the plane Thudd
so if we get into the champions league next season and have to travel to Russia / Ukraine for a midweek game are we going to leave our first team squad at home ?
We have a very strong squad, players get injured in training as we all know, most players would rather play in a match than train.
Under Harry we played the kids and look where that got us !
Its obvious that in the early rounds of the Europa and carling we will play a mixture of first teamers and fringe players.
And yes Chronic, AVB playing full strength sides throughout this competition is likely to be our downfall.
We dont even need to play kids, our second string side would still be the best side in our group, by far.
move along thudd. there are no batty creases to caress here
The likelihood is that they will not be in on Friday & sleeping patterns will not be too disrupted. A lot of professional footballers have a sleep for a few hours most afternoons anyway!!

agree totally. I am not saying just forget about the Europa. I want to go through.. what I am saying is that our second string side is more than capable of going to anzhi and winning, let alone taking a point.
