I don`t normally watch again, if Spurs get stuffed, but I did last night, and watching Spurs should have put away their chances before West Ham scored. But the three goals scored were comical, and you know what I think about certain defenders. Really, really poor at the back. Defoe has his chance and blew it big time as usual, and one or two good chances to score, and fecccked up. Soldado will back for the Villa game.
So all your analysis immediately after the game yesterday, saying who should be dropped, and who isn't good enough, was made without even seeing the match?
I should have known really, as you had Townsend in there who was by far our best player.
At the end of the day, AVB got his tactics wrong yesterday and was out-thought by Allardyce. The subs seemed panicked, and not thought out properly, and he refused to address areas where we fell short.
Dembele, Defoe, Walker all got an unnecessary 90mins on both Thursday and yesterday, while Eriksen and Siggy were also made to play a part.
By the end of the international break we should have Rose back, who will give us much needed width down that left side, and Lennon who is another option for pace and beating his man.
No need to panic, it will do AVB good to have 2wks to digest
Sandro has to play... He's a must for me and I'd like to see holtby next to him with Eriksen in front of them..
Lennon needs to come back ASAP!!! He's a big part to keep our shape and width!

Without seeing a 3-0 home drubbing to a team like West Ham, I think I like a lot of supporters, who also did not see it, can make our own minds up without actually having seen it to how bad the team were. All this tactically shi te does my brain in. If Defoe had done what he is supposed to do, score goals, and not miss sitters, we may not be talking here now, and if the defence had done what it is supposed to do, ie defend, the same applies. The bottom line is certain players should not be in the team, end of. Townsend from what I saw had a couple of good runs, so what, he has to do more than that. And he is in all probability at the limit of his ability, no way is he long term going to be good enough.

Jeez. Sums you up
Yes Defoe had chances. Should have scored that one 2nd half and could have been a different game.
However you made sweeping statement post-game without seeing a minute of action.
You wrote off our best player on the day, Townsend.
I think you also said Lamela should play when he did diddly squat in his 25mins and gave the ball away.

Fact
Dembele isn't a DM
Sandro needed to play to release Paulinho and Eriksen, on reflection (based on performanced)
Vlad would have started, along with Verts at LB, Sandro in the DM, Paulinho and Eriksen, Townsend and Lamela
Bad performance and too predictable

I think - despite the relative strength of the squad - the injuries to Kaboul, Lennon and Rose have really hurt us. The international break may have come at the right time - nearly 2 weeks for those players to recover.
Junction - everything you say is true - it's really worrying that AVB couldn't see that.
Basic, basic stuff.

Why doesnt Lamela start for you guys?
Its not like he didnt have a pre season or is unfit.
Thudd - West Ham executed a good plan well, but it really shouldn't have worked. I think that even switching Townsend to the correct flank and playing a proper winger on the right would've reaped dividends.
We were so so predictable down the left, I can't remember a time when Siggy attempted to get on the outside, everything was inside, all the time, Naughton hardly overlapped, Rose is a big player for us in that position and this style of play!
Townsend, easily our best player, what's he gonna do when he's got a 5ft 5inch player to hit when crossing?
also move the ball with more zip...
In the past AVB has been pretty good at reacting to other managers making a change or when our plan A isn't working.
Yesterday however he waited way too long with the subs. Took a ridiculous amount of time to get Holtby on.

Especially frustrating as whenever Soldado is on we never seem to cross

I watched it on my computer, like a lot of our supporters, when the stream was not going down. Is that not called watching it. I caught up with it again on on MOD2. HRH seems to be spreading rumours that I did not watch the game at all.
What is it with you lot, have a go at Sandy week.
