Yes, you are missing the point, Gerrard and Carrick is fine, but another more energetic midfielder is needed beside them, Wilshere for example or Cleverley. Lampard is slow, stale and may score a few goals but in the long run won't lead us to playing quick incisive effective football.

Neither will Roy Hodgson.

Danny Mills describes Andros Townsend as 'a little bit special'. Hmmmm.

Yes, I agree, Rednapp should have been appointed instead, but the FA were too up themselves to go with the 'popular' choice and chose to go with the easy choice in Hodgson who they can easily maniupulate. After this World Cup, Rednapp probably would have been fired, which would enable the Fa to make a long term appointment- a young, manager who likes to actually play proper football.

Ah, so you'd go for somebody like Joe Allen, then?
Very high pass-completion stats, rarely creates any chances?

..............

No different than a midfield combination of Gerrard and Lampard then.

Pity Bale is injured.

Why not say someone like Henderson.

OP, yeah I agree. As much as we like to take the mick I was hoping that England would try and appoint Brenda.

Yeah, he would have been a good shout- as much as I hate to say it, he has done well for Liverpool.

I'm still not convinced by Rodgers, he will probably get Liverpool back to the place they were before the combined disaster that was hodgson and dalglish arrived.

Gerrard's provided assists for a ridiculously high proportion of England's goals over the past 2 years
I think it's well over 50%

How do you translate this into 'rarely creates any chances'.?

Earl, in fairness, if he manages that, looking at the competition, he'll have done very well.

It's early days with him but it's more about his ideas and coaching that are far more impressive than Hodgson.

We need a manager that is going to make us play something that resembles football. Hodgson is not that man.

People have fallen out of love with the England team as we are so dull.

If we can get someone that will help us play some fairly attractive stuff it will be great. We aren't going to win any competitions.

Would rather see some nice football and losing by a couple than defending for our lives and having flattering score lines in games we've never looked like winning.

That will never happen, the press would have a field day,it will be safe, safe, safe all the way.

That may be true. But this is the main problem.

Most England fans are bored of this safely safely option.

Tell me about it Darren, it's painful to watch.

Walcott as a pundit, different

I've mentioned before that I also think it has a big influence on the fans and this further reflects onto the players.

If there was something to get more excited about the fans would have even more enthusiasm and would help the players.

Of course the fans should get behind the players anyway, but when you consider that England fans come from different club sides many don't take much of an interest in supporting England because we are dull.

The clueless FA will probably not realise this, though, and replace Hodgson with Big Sam.
