Can't disagree with those. Would take Smalling and Jones as CBs aswell as Carrick to partner Gerrard. I realise that is all United players, just looking at it
Wilshere needs to play himself in to some form imo.
Walcott nailed on ?? Should be feckin nailed down to make sure he goes nowhere near that plane more like
Jay.....probably but they aint "nailed" on for me.
Other than Carrick, you're probably right. It's no coincidence that Gerrard plays one of his best games in the last year or so, for England, with Carrick alongside him, as opposed to Lampard - at least IMO. They seemingly compliment each other well.
Milner will be nailed on. Hodgson likes him too much.
Lampard's 90% likely to go too tbh
Walcott needs to get off the treatment table and into some sort of form
I don't mind taking Milner - if we're winning he's a decent option to come on and help retain possession. If we're winning - you don't need the likes of Townsend in the last 5-10 minutes or so.
Not to mention - Milner got Gerrard's assist
Lampard should go too, I've got no problems with it, he just shouldn't be starting as often. He is still a very good player, especially if we get any injuries.
I thought Carrick and Gerrard made a good partnership, with Gerrard able to get forward more. However I would worry about how solid defensively they'd be against the real top sides. In fact England don't really possess a player who can play that role at the top level.
Townsend, Lampard,Wilshere, Walker will be there.
Rest are up for grabs.
I think against a top side, we'd need Wilshere or Cleverley in as part of a 4-5-1
bt presumtuous to say Wilshere will deffo be there, been struggling with injury and indifferent form all season
Regardless of form, only injury will keep him out of the WC squad.
could Ravel Morrison have a chance

Yes, that would be the best way to go considering the lack of a defensive player. I don't think it's a good trio though. Perhaps Carrick, Gerrard and Rooney in the hole, dropping in. Cleverley doesn't offer enough, for me. Wilshire has to improve and prove himself worthy of the enormous hype he receives.
We'll have to see how Hendo gets on over the next 12 months - I fully expect he'll be part of some of the international friendlies before the WC - He's been on good form.
Carrick and Jones aswell.
Against a top side you'll need a lot more than change of formation.
Henderson may go but I can't see him starting games and I don't think he offers anymore than Cleverley or Wilshire. People are always complaining about Gerrard and Lampard not being dropped for younger players but who for? Fair enough, Carrick can come in but I certainly wouldn't be jumping in for any of the others to replace Gerrard or Lampard.
I thought Smalling played very well, he seems to have beefed up a lot and is a big lad now. Personally I'd bring him instead of Walker who has been woeful for two seasons. He can also cover at centre back.
Carrick is hardly a spring chicken himself, 32 or 33 now I think. We're at a real lack of top quality English midfielders right now Though I don't think I'd be overly disappointed to see any of the 3 'youth' CMs alongside Gerrard or Carrick.
Smalling isn't a right back though, he's a center back. He can cover right back, but Johnson & Richards (if he can get game time for City) are both better options on the right.
not a fan of Walker but to say he's had 2 woeful seasons is harsh, agree he was awful last season but he was decent in 11/12 and this season's been more mixed
i was ositively relishing Hazard v Walker when we played them but he contained Hazard preetty well tbh
GB
Of the player's you mentioned in your article I agree all will be on the plane.
Sad really that there is only one world class player in that group.

Yes, what I meant was last season plus what's been played of the current one.
Sturridge on the plane to Brazil, really??
He has a lot to prove before I would take him...IF he is nailed on it shows how poor Englands striker options really are!
