Diggers

We have to allow him 2 seasons, BUT for me whether its Moyes's fault or not we need to buck our ideas up in the transfer market, this summer was pathetic

It was always going to be difficult for any manager to come in, assess the squad, decide on players and get them in.

Add to that Woodward replacing Gill and it's no wonder we ended up signing Fellaini for over the odds. It will be very interesting to see how January goes, especially if our current form continues...

To begin.

Saf took over a squad who didn't win much at all.
Moyes took over champions of England.

anyway, as I said on other articles the state we are in now is mainly safs fault in my opinion.
he let the squad get old and tired, especially our midfield.

he has made our team play negative football for almost two years now, he seems to have instilled it in the players that defending 1-0 leads for 30-40 minutes is fine now and he has left it all behind with moyes to deal with.

on the upside, moyes seems to be picking strong, young teams. The thing that annoys me about him is his substitution decisions but hopefully given time he will get it right.....
Giggs needs to retire, welbeck should never play left wing and where was Smalling playing yesterday?

We've been lacking in midfield for a couple of years now and to some extent up front, it needs addressing

SAF's honours before he joined:

Aberdeen
Scottish Premier Division (3): 1979–80, 1983–84, 1984–85
Scottish Cup (4): 1981–82, 1982–83, 1983–84, 1985–86
Scottish League Cup (1): 1985–86
UEFA Cup Winners' Cup (1): 1982–83
UEFA Super Cup (1): 1983

The board knew they had the right man.

Yes.

There is no criteria whatsoever that Moyes is top off that qualifies him to be Manchester United manager.

And I dare somebody to make me 1

I think we simply have to make top 4, otherwise we are screwed in the transfer market and sir Alex's 25 years of effort building an unrivalled mentality are put to waste.

If Moyes can't take a title winning team to the top 4, he has to go, otherwise we could well become Liverpool.

Like the OP he wasn't my first choice but I have and will back him, but so far he has done nothing with any kind of confidence or authority, and his footballing decisions have always aired on the side of caution.

I don't believe he will make a success of this opportunity, the job is clearly too big for him, it's i fortunate but but that's my opinion.

Sorry but that's pure bile you're spouting there. We didn't play attractive football, granted, but negative? How many times did we go 1-0 down last season and win? We went out to win every game, Fergie made attacking substitutions when required, very rarely did he made 3 defensive minded subs, Moyes has done that 4 or 5 times already.

The most important criteria that qualifies him to be Untied manager is that he is United manager. That's good enough for me. Enough of this "it's been 3 months and we're still crap, ta ra Moysey" rubbish.

how often did we sit on one goal leads and soak up pressure for 20-30 minutes?
Too many to remember.

I really wanted Jurgen Klopp in the summer. In the end ,and after listening to Fergie, I was happy enough with Moyes but he wouldn't have been my first choice. Or probably second or third either to be honest.

Klopp - a new up and coming forward thinking coach that managed to topple Bayern on a shoe string budget and whose team plays fantastic attractive football. Speaks English too. Those are PROPER credentials. Getting Everton to a consisent top 8 finish isn't quite as impressive.

I honestly think we misssed a trick not going for him. Can't imagine that he's on anything like the reported 6m a year that Moyes is either.

Maybe he wouldn't have wanted to follow Fergie though. Who would? But if Moyes doesn't buck his ideas up and fast, he'd be the guy I'd go for if things don't improve.

Who were your first choice to replace Ferguson?

Mine would have been Ancelotti.

I dint remember many 1-0 wins last season. In fact, when we had Ronaldo and the 'the best Utd side ever', we had more clean sheets and 1-0 wins than ever if I remember correctly.

I don't remember many 1-0 wins last season, West ham, Sunderland, that's it I believe, I don't think I've missed more than 1 or 2. 2 games in 38, again, spouting bile.

We were poor defensively at the start of last season and improved as we went on, but never played defensive under Fergie in the PL.

I don't know, as stated above Klopp would be great, Pep was available when Fergie decided to retire, don't think any British managers had the credentials personally.

Busby is right. We went behind 17 times last season.

I'm starting to think our backline maybe isn't quite as good as we all believe it is.

Our backline changed all the time last season. We need to decide on a first choice defence and stick to it unless there are injuries.

I said all summer that Jose was the man.

Wanted the job. Wanted to build a dynasty of his own.

As for the negative headlines he may have created.

SAF tried to sue the owners of the club once upon a time.

If we say back on 1-0 leads so often, why did we only win about 2 games 1-0?
