The guy is World Class, no two-ways about it- injuries have deprived him of becoming more appreciated.

Do we need an article about every former player who comes good? I am happy for Rossi. He wasn't good enough to start for United, he still isn't. He is a good player but isn't as good as our starting strikers. He is a far better player than he would have been, had he stayed at United, as he has developed through playing time. Do I regret us letting him go? No. Not unless he was happy to be second fiddle.

I do rate him, but I don't rate serie A and I think there's every chance you won't see an Italian team in the next phase of the champions league to strengthen my point. Napoli aren't as good as arsenal or dortmund. Juve are negotiating an easy champions league group in much the same way as we did in the years we failed to progress so they may also miss out.

Forgot about Milan. Arguably the worst Milan team I have ever seen. They'll probably make it through to the second round and embarrass themselves. Still wouldn't rule celtic out yet though. Beat diamo home and away (very possible) and beat Milan at home and things get interesting

Rossi wasnt good enough for us.
Pogba on the other hand his departure will hurt us for decades to come. What a real superstar this player has become.
Unless we sign another cracking central mid fielder there will always be a void and Pogba's ghost will continue to haunt us

Rossi has been consistently good since leaving United. Just I dont think can cut it at the very high level.

The loss of Pogba was a big one. The situation by which it came about was far more worrying. We lost him, we lost fryers (no great loss but still a loss) and we were in a position whereby we were scrambling to secure the future of Januzaj. Surely our policy on young players is completely counter productive to bringing young players through. Very worrying. And this situation will arrive again unless there is an overhaul of how and when we hand out contracts.

Rossi would never have cut it at United.

I don't get why people do not have the required remorse in losing youngsters. We should not lose any youngster who is able to contribute substantially because it is inherent as youngsters that they have unknown potential.

Rossi, not so long ago was the pogba of our youth team. A clearly talented player who regardless of who was ahead of him will always have had something to contribute. Who kept him out? A loanee who we could never afford in tevez. Good enough? No effing way anyone knows this at a player at age 20.

We should fight tooth and nail to keep EVERY YOUNGSTER WHO SHOWS POTENTIAL! It is good business and it is a better policy than risking tons of money on players who almost never match their fee.

Were any of the goals better than THAT goal Arsenal scored yesterday

Redas I am sorry but that is a load of rubbish. We should fight tooth and nail to keep every player who is fit to do a job for our team. We are talking club football here, not international football. There is no limit to the age and creed of who we select. The job of the guys signing players and picking players is to get the guys who will do the best job now and in the future.

I will go along with your philosophy here. How many guys have come through Uniteds youth system and broken into the first team in the last 10 years? Okay, that's not fair. We were looking to win trophies and couldn't throw them in. So, how many young players have we brought through in the last 10 years who have left us and amounted to anything other than a Sunderland reserve?

Sorry but your philosophy would result in relegation. By all means, tie the young guys who are good enough down and do it quicker than we are. But don't just try and promote youth for the sake of it. The guys we release generally don't reach the top level. There's a reason for that.

There were two Italian teams in the quarter-finals last season, how many British ones?

Marcelino, the top boys in the prem would eat the best of Italy alive, one off year in the champions league doesn't change that

posted on 20/10/13

They probably would, but recent meetings haven't exactly shown this to be the case.

Serie A gets constantly put down, it is a very exciting league with many top class players that are constantly ignored by the best of the Prem and in a few years it will be good again.

There was no Italian thing who looked even remotely capable of winning it last year, there were also no British ones, admittedly. However, a British team did win it the year before and British teams have in general done okay in recent years in the champions league. Italian teams haven't, and their best team is a functional, get the job done, no superstars juventus. It's a poor league. If you need any evidence of that, watch a rerun of a very average roma team dispatch of a very overrated napoli (who get spanked every time they play a good side) the other night and maintain their 100 per cent record.

Arsenal showed napoli up too. I seemed to be the only one who wasn't remotely surprised.
