Tbh I can't see us finishing outside the top 4, 4th at worst IMO but I wouldn't take it if it was offered to me right now....

I don't see us getting top 4 right now. We chose the worst possible summer to stand still and it's going to come back and bite us hard I reckon.
The only thing that can save it, is a good Jan transfer window. But I'm not holding my breath on that either.

Where do you see the main problems then...just out of interest..
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. The defence - Everyone on here seems to think we have the best set of defenders in the league. Well, we don't quite frankly. What we have is young defenders that have the potential to become that, at the moment they are NOT though. It's mistake after mistake at the moment. And they get rotated too much for my liking too.
2. Midfield. Absolutely appalling for a club our size. As good as Carrick looks for us, he wouldn't get a game for many of the favourites for the CL. That's where we are though. Truth hurts.
3. Wingers. Just poor players. Full stop. No consistency between any of them.
4. Gap between midfield and strikers is just far too big.
Apart from that we're fine though
This squad under Moyes will do VERY WELL to get top 4 from what I have seen in first 9 games.

Yeah...Nani new five year deal...hmm...Valencia...flatters to decieve...true

It's a lie because if we finished (let's say) 10th you would definitely not ave that same opinion.
How do we have a 5th placed squad? We finished first last year by some distance. I'm all for supporting him while he's in charge but if we finish goth or lower he'll get the sack and deservedly so.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Unlike some, I am a United fan for better or worse
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes and as a United fan you want what's best forthwith club, if we were to finish that low, sacking Moyes would be best for the club.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You can't sack a manager after one season with another man's squad. SAF didn't address many of the flaws in this team and left Moyes with a lot of work to do. Give Moyes the chance to buy a CB, LB, RW and CM and then judge him.
I can also agree that the likes of Carrick & Smalling in the current England side (& others) are probably an indication of why we will not get past the last sixteen in the WC when you compare them to other countries midfield first choices

The fact of the matter is, SAF finished first with this squad. If DM can't finish in the top four, that would be deserving of the sack.
It took Arsenal fans 7 years to get to this stage, it's taken you just over 7 weeks
If we fall out of the top 4, he deserve to be sacked.
Anything less, with the squad he has is unacceptable.
Always prefer a win.
When SAF finished first with this squad there were no challengers. We stood stikk whilst our rivals improved massively. Last season we had to come from behind to snatch points so many times. Moyes does it yesterday and its 'worrying' or 'not good enough.' Moyes inherited a team that had flattered to deceive in what was a very poor league last year. Look at how our top 4 did in Europe!! A lot of managers would struggle with this squad against our current competition. We have at best a borderline top 4 squad when you compare us to the teams City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs can field.
Football has moved on from when Fergie was manager. It is a lot more about instant success, and rightly so. Moyes needs to bring success to United quicker than Fergie did. If he doesn't at least win the Carling Cup by November, reach the CL semi by January and reach the FA cup final by February then he should be sacked.

Spot on, theres a lot of issues with this squad to get us back to thetop level, however that said its more than capable of top four.

I get what you're saying mate. I really do.
But not sacking someone is not going to guarantee success. If we stick with him and take the moral high ground of "we don't sack our managers" it doesn't mean it will be a good decision.
What Chelsea do is quite frankly ridiculous of course it is. But their fans will say its been justifed with the trophies they won.
Sticking with the wrong man and being loyal is not a forumla for succeess. It's all about getting and then sticking with the right man. So far, Moyes hasn't proved in his career he is the right man.
Actually didn't a few of them go without winning anything?
Avram, AVB and Raneri spring to mind....

Stretty, doesnt change much. The squad isn't good enough. We spend our days on here saying we need players to fill in here there n everywhere, so we cant then hypocritically expect a new manager to emulate the achievements of the greatest manager ever, in the face of stiffer opposition than SAF ever faced, with a squad that we as fans berate on a daily basis for not being strong enough in a number of positions.
Who is to know if moyes is the right man or not though?
One season is a ridiculously short time to give a new manager, if we'd have gone down that road with fergie where would the club be now?
its his own fault he didn't get players in. that's bad management. that shouldn't be used as something to defend him with.
