Not surprising that Ronaldo took the penalty. I'll reserve judgement on Bale being a success there though. Madrid do have a habit of moving players on if they fail to match Barcelona's achievements.

Bale will be a bigger sucess in Madrid than Becks and Owen were ( although I believe Macca did win a trophy or two with Real , something that Bale might never do in Spain especially with Barca being Barca ).

Yeah, timing is everything. I was a bit sceptical of Athletico Madrid at first but they're proving to be quite the team at the moment.

A little off topic but the mention of bale reminded me of the thread about his unveiling at Madrid, people were predicting how he would make his entrance and someone (Mr Chelsea I think) said "he will be sat in a tyre being lowered on a rope"
