What a sickener HK

Means you'll have to go through the nightmare of CL qualifying too!

managed to sign Mackay-Steven from Dundee Utd, so far he has been excellent, his flair is 20 and has got 4 assists in 2 games for Benteke

Haven’t played since FM12 as my computer wasn’t capable of running 13. Well I just bought a new Laptop yesterday oblivious to the fact that FM14 was out last week. I was straight on to steam to download my copy.

The missus is not going to be happy!!!! But to be fair, she doesn’t know I have the game. She couldn’t understand why I was up until the early hours last night 'to get to grips with my new laptop'.

I was like a kid at Christmas again. Tried to do the whole, start unemployed and earn myself a top job instead of walking into one. It’s going to be a long and enjoyable year!

say goodbye to your social life . Once you get into it, there is no stopping it. I could have an extra hour in bed but rather wake up an hour early just to play FM

Im thinking of starting a new game. The unemployed route is a nightmare. Thinking of starting with a League 1 team, but I have no clue who to start with.

What about MK Dons? Decent chairman, good ground.

Wolves would be good. Getting them back up

Bot are good shouts. Was tempted by Wolves but Im thinking of going with Sheffield United. Hopefully I can make use of the loan system and bring a few of Liverpool's youngsters down for the season. Coady is already here.

Blades are a good pick. Stable with good youth system. Good luck. Keep us updated. I am thinking of starting my long save now. Will start from league 2 with Oxford Utd or Chesterfield

Started the game, and was off to a terrific start. Won first 4 games or so....changed my personnel as people came back from injury and that is where it all went downhill.

As United, I somehow drew Gala, Atletico and Napoli in a CL group. Gala beat me at OT while my team decided they would miss every chance they got. We narrowly lost to Napoli 3-2 and Atletico came to OT and somehow got a win after Linegaard decided to kick the ball straight to their LW when he was outside the box taking a free kick. I understand that it is about tactics sometimes, but some of the games so far have been nothing short of ridiculous. Managers suddenly become tactical geniuses, your players suddenly can't string a pass to each other and if they do, they hit everything except the back on the net. GKs suddenly become Cech, Kahn, Buffon rolled into one....it was a horrid mess tbh. Had 3 defeats in my CL group after three games, 1 defeat in the league(came at low on confidence Everton who suddenly remembered how to play)

I see another year of frustrating games with me ranting like last year

What is your starting line up and formation+roles. You need to get the balance right between attack and defence.

You sound like me whenever I play Denis_Law.

When I'm winning : I'm a tactical genius, my team is brilliant, I facking love this game.

When I'm losing : This game is utter boll0cks, so many bugs, just doesn't make sense, not playing anymore.

Henry

I play 4-2-3-1(Deep)

RvP-poacher

Rooney/Kagawa- Trequarista(sp)

Young, Valencia -Inside Forwards

Sven Bender/Fellani/Lars Bender/Carrick comprise of a two man defensive partnership with a deep-lying play-maker and a ball winning midfielder.........the defense and GK are default.

Chris

I've not gotten to the point it is rubbish, but I acknowledge from reading some reviews that you have to consistently be changing the tactics, but I think that can be a bit of a challenge given most people play on max speed and don't have time to pause and change to combat every recommendation the assistant manager gives. I was this way with FM2013 last year, until I built an all-conquering United team after 15 seasons.

. So many errors there

RVP is not a poacher. Hernandez is. RVP is a complete or Advanced forward. You are basically just telling him to wait for a tap in when playing him as poacher. Not his style.

Rooney/Kagawa- Trequarista(sp) - Not bad. They can both do this role. Maybe Kagawa as advanced playmaker or attacking midfielder

Young, Valencia -Inside Forwards - Valencia is a winger. Doesn't have the ability to cut inside. His game style is running down the wing. Young as IF isn't that bad an idea.

The main problem with playing inside forwards is that they go too far forward and dont track back enough or the gap between IF's and FB's is too big. Try getting your FB's to attack more.

This is how I would line up as Man U.

De Gea - GK
Rafael - FB(Support)
CB's- Default
Evra - (CB) Attack
Nani/Valencia - Winger (Attack)
Carrick (DLP - Support)
Bender/Fellaini (CM (defend)
Young - Inside Forward (Support)
Rooney - Trequarista
RVP - Advanced forward

Would never, ever have a full back as attack, no matter how good your team is. You will just get caught out with long balls to the opponents winger on that side every time.

posted on 8/11/13

not really Chris. If I'm playing with Inside forwards I like my full backs to go forward to give some width. Obviously you need a FB with good decision making so that he knows when to go forward and when not to.

HK

I'll admit that I basically transferred my successful tactics from '13 to this one. Will give it a go in a bit and see what happens, it is just that those tactics worked splendidly for a couple of games, and then I tweaked 2/3 players and all of a sudden the team was getting beaten/ drew with any & every body.

I'm still playing FM11. Finally won the Premier League with Tamworth the other day in the year 2024. It was emotional.

For me FM08 was the best game ever. Probably because it was my first year at Uni and I played it at least 10 hours a day or even more
