Great game that. Possibly the best of the tournament so far.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Easily the best.
All three of Croatia's games have been entertaining, even in the Turkey game they should have scored more than they did. I just hope their fans don't ruin it for them.

I reckon the last 16 is gonna be:
Switzerland v Poland
Croatia v Austria
Wales v Turkey
Portugal v Belgium
Germany v Slovakia
Italy v Spain
France v Northern Ireland
England v Hungary
Some cracking ties in there. I still hold out hope for this tournament, despite what we've seen so far.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Swiss vs Poland = hard to call
Croatia vs Austria = Austria have not qualified yet.
Wales vs Turkey = Turkey have not qualified yet
Portugal vs Belgium = Portugal have not qualified yet
Germany vs Slovakia = Easy win for Germany
Italy v Spain = Hard to call, but I am edging towards Spain
France v Northern Ireland = Northern Ireland
England v Hungary = England to edge it.

Del Bosque is a liability for Spain. Should have quit after the last World Cup humiliation.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He should've finished on a high after the 2012 Euros.
The title and emphatic scoreline in the final papered over the cracks that were already apparent.
Who could Wales play after their next match?
Poland v Croatia
Wales v Belgium
Germany v Italy
France v England
Last 8 imo

Do you think so? I personally felt like Spain were invincible after that Euros. That's why the World Cup humiliation was such a jolt.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Group E runners up (Belgium?) v Group F winners (Portugal)
Could easily be Ireland/Sweden v Hungary/Iceland though

Belgium would be tough. From what I saw of both in the last game, think I'd slightly rather play France. It's never going to be easy anyway when you reach the QF.
Wales took 4 points off Belgium in qualifying and didn't concede.
Won't be scared of playing them.

Different conditions here though in a KO tournament game than in group qualifying.
I don't think Wales will be scared of facing anyone in their half of the draw, tbf.

I absolutely think so.
Del Bosque inherited a side built by Aragonés and rode on his and Guardiola's coat tails to WC 2010, but sucking a lot of the endeavour out of the side playing two holding mids.
By 2012, Xavi had started to decline and had difficulty influencing games as he had done. It was Italy's folly -probably encouraged by their group stage game against us- in thinking they could take us on at our own game in the final that made us look so good, but we were pretty poor in large parts of that tournament. Both Italy and Croatia could've done a job on us in the groups stage, and Portugal could've beaten us in the semi.
Even if it was under Del Bosque, the need for a changing of the guard was already evident at those Euros. I can understand Del Bosque's temptation for 2014 to go with the proven winners who's brought so much success, but it was clear past leaders like Xavi or Casillas were no longer at their best and Del Boy threw away 2 years in which he ought to have been blooding a new team.
Our actual game hasn't really evolved that much either, even though I will admit I've been pleasantly surprised so far these Euros. Even our defeat tonight was a better performance than anything I'd expected going into this championship.
USA v argies anyone?
Arg have Aguero, di Maria, pastors and lamela on the bench
But crucially rojo and Romero on the pitch
Beautiful assist from Messi
Argies in complete control.
2-0 great FK Messi
All time leading argie scorer
Us looking all at sea
one of the best free kicks i have ever seen.
Yedlin runs fast, makes poor decision, gives away a foul.
That's him summed up in one play right there
Ridiculous freekick from Messi, what a player.
Messi leading his country to a potential first major tournament win in decades while Ronaldo has the mother all terrible Euro's
